  Witness only schools

  when i was growing up, there was a "school" in the area, that catered only to witness children.

  there was probably about 60 students, mostly elementary school, but there were a few that were from high school.

  i had a friend that went for a while, and i got to visit a few times.. the teaching was barely enough, and consisted of two or three classrooms.

  In Tucson, Arizona there was a JW school called the "New World School". It was run by mostly uncredentialed JW's who really didn't have a clue what they were doing. (Although I do believe that the principal of the school and his wife had bachelor's degrees from the University of Arizona) From what I know it was just a school of JW propaganda. I knew a few kids who did go to that school. My cousin's wife taught there and from what I understand she was a very mean teacher; she had no credentials either.

  Back in / out of the hospital

  a week ago thursday, i realized i was developing an upper respatory problem, likely bhronchitis, or maybe pneumoina.

  i have suffered with this and asthma all my life since i was 2 years old.

  however, after my heart attack in may, i dreaded this happening, as the reduced oxygen can mess up an already weak heart.

  Dear Jim,

  I'm glad you are better now. It must have been scary for your family as well. Congestive Heart Failure sounds awful and I'm glad that was a mistake. But boy, what a scare!

  For those of you who think that it's too close for comfort and would feel like a JW thing:

  No! It's the farthest thing from it. Name tags are good because then we know who we are and with my memory, I forget someone's name 5 minutes after they told me.

  The music is fabulous--nothing like those stupid kingdom songs.

  You don't have to sit there and listen to boring speakers drone on and on. You can get up go to your room and take a nap if you need to. But the speakers aren't boring at all!

  And best of all, the food there is GREAT!

  JanG - You're a Legend!

  i received this email only seconds ago and i'm just passing it on to those that knew jan, i have no other details:.

  jan groenveld will no longer be a part of these forums.

  she passed away in her sleep last night.

  I just returned last night from the PA convention to find this out early this morning. As I checked my Yahoo mail, I also found she had sent me a poem called "The Power of One". It's like her last communication to all of us with her last wish on how she wants us to carry on without her.

  I never met Jan personally, and I'm grieved that I won't have the chance to meet her here on earth. I do look forward to seeing her in heaven someday. May she be at rest and at peace. I wish only the best to her family and her survivors who will miss her. I'm so sorry that she is gone--what a loss! Jan definitely was a legend!

  Kingdom halls without holy spirit

  have any of you guys ever notived how many jw's complain about "other" halls not having jehovah's holy spirit?

  when i was a jw i moved a bit and was in several different halls.

  i heard of a number of halls not having jehovah's holy spirit and that in time jehovah would clear things up.

  There may have been a spirit around, but it wasn't "holy"!

  What Bad Counsel Was Given To You By The Elders?

  i've heard a ton of "bad counsel" given by elders such as "you should or shouldn't marry this person", "give up that job", "you should pioneer"........were you given any "bad counsel"?

  Oh my, the elder said that?

  Jurs, that's all we were in the KH. Just a bunch of doormats. How did we ever allow ourselves to be treated so badly? When I look back on all of this now, the person that I am today, would have never put up with any of that crap.

  D.J., sorry to hear that your dad has not gotten any better. I'll be heading out to Blue Mt. on Thursday and will arrive in Allentown in the evening. I hope to see you and pray that your dad starts to recover. I know how hard this is on you and your family. It's so difficult to see your mom or dad suffer through an illness.

  I didn't realize that you had already posted this to this forum. Randy and I had had been working on this together and he asked me to get things all set up, which I did. I called so many places, hotels, etc....finally found this place that gave us a good deal. So last week Randy and I went and looked at the place and Randy booked it. He just left on vacation on Friday.

  I've been quite busy myself and I sometimes miss the posts here. I don't get to this website on a daily basis, because I monitor three separate Yahoo groups, and that keeps me pretty busy, plus having a full time job and a family! There is life beyond the internet.....
