I agree. However, you have to take into account the time factor. Will there be simultaneous communicating civilizations. As much as we like to think of aliens and flying saucers we will actually hear them long before we see them if at all. We have not heard them yet or they lived and died out and their electromagnetic radiation has long passed us.

If you accept that there is no god (and I do) and we are a product of evolution then you can calculate on the very conservative side if life has, does or will exist elsewhere. If each galaxy can produce only one earth like planet that will support life and there are over 150 billion galaxies then life is not rare at all. I might suggest a book: "Rare Earth" by Peter D. Ward and Donald Brownlee

I was inactive for 12 years. All during that time I considered myself a JW and was in constant fear of dying at Arrmagedon. I became active again and for the next 5 years was a good Jdub when questions a doubts crept in. I then DA'd myself and have never looked back.

Didn't say you were. In the whole scheme of things we are irrelevant as concerns a so called god. "The God of the Universe has determined that this planet is the focile point in the universe. All else rests on the outcome here.

Our universe contains over 100 Billion Galaxies. Each of these Galaxies contain over a Billion stars. Our own Galaxy contains over a Billion stars. Having said that, step back and look at the over all picture. A sovereign God is challanged. His sovereignity is in question. Here today it must be answered. God himself came to earth to settle this question once and for all time.
What's wrong with this question. Are we the center of the universe? Does the fate of the universe rest with us (planet Earth). We are but a grain of sand on the beach of the universe. The beach of the universe.....

elders are supposed to meet everyone once a year, either df'd ones or inactive, just to try to bring them back.. in my case, they usually try right before the memorial.

The beauty of living in a security condo is they have to call me from the lobby for me to buzz them in. I can see them on the lobby video camera and, don't know why, but it seems I'm never at home.

I would ask him if it was OK for me to join the YMCA solely for the purpose of using their exercise equipment and pool for my better health.
i have been daed for months but only recently, after having asked every and each person he could ask (even writting a letter to the wt), my dad decided he couldn't talk to me anymore.
it has hit my non-jw mother very hard that her husband could do that.
she cries a lot, but we are trying to be strong and hold ourselves together, and try in anyway we can to make him open his eyes..... tomorrow, i have decided to leave the crisis of conscience book on his desk with a with page on it, written on big black letters that will say.... "i was wondering if every man would be capable of shunning his own children and break up his family because of a group of men.. then i realised that no, some men have chosen to open their eyes and *truly* follow jesus, example...... with love, your daughter".
JW's can be disfellowshipped for reading that book. I believe it would be a waste of time. He wouldn't even look at it.

most witnesses bored me to absolute tears.
I was never popular. In 28 years never made elder, ms, pioneer just didn't reach out. I could never kiss up to the "IN" crowd. It seemed like such a chore to talk to these people. It got to the point to where if I didn't carry the conversation it died with that awkward silence then with a rushed "ok I'll see you later". Towards the end I just couldn't relate to these people. I would sit there at the hall watching these people, always sitting in the same chair, making the same comments they seemed so dead.
We has a new elder move in from another hall for 1.5 years since he arrived he never spoke to me or approached me at all, so I don't believe I was very popular.
