What one would consider cheating others would consider standard operating procedure. I can't tell you how many times I would be in a car group heading out from the hall to rural territory. Usually an elder would say something like, "I have an RV around the corner that we can start our time with. No one blinked an eye. Then you would be out in the rural territory and someone would have another RV. Two would go inside and spend an hour or so while the other 4 of us would sit in the car racking up time.

CHEATING ON FIELD SERVICE
by chuckyy intowards the end of my time as a jw, i must confess to cheating whilst out on field service.. 1. i would turn up at the field service arrangement with my wife, and we would say that we were working together that day to do return visits.
as everyone went out, we would simply get into our car and drive home.
(hypocritical i know).

Anything funny happen at a jw wedding?
by tall penguin ini have a few funny jw wedding stories.
the first is what happened at my ex-husband's wedding.
he remarried only 6 months after our divorce and so i guess the brother who gave the marriage talk hadn't quite recovered because when he announced the new couple to the congregation, he announced my name rather than the new bride's.

I attended a witness wedding about 25 years ago. This elder giving the wedding talk went on and on and on. No one could believe anyone could come up with so many marriage examples. Then the brother stops in midsentence. Silence ans he ruffles thru his notes. Then panic he announces he left the rest of his notes at home. He studdered and stammered thru the vows as he made them up as he went.
Another wedding. This was a wirlwind romance as quite a few witness weddings are. You know, if we don't get married this weekend we will be hauled before the committee the next. Anyway, the wedding is going on just fine, then they get to the vows the elder asked the brother,
"Do you take (not her real name) Mary Ellis Smith to be your lawfully wedded wife?" The brother looks at the elder and says "Who?"

All who want to understand the Bible should appreciate that the "greatly diversified wisdom of God" can become known only through Jehovah's channel of communication, the faithful and discreet slave.-John 6:68.
I wonder if that "channel of communication, the faithful and discreet slave" includes informing the flock the FDS was a member of the Wild Beast "UN" for 10 years. I forgot, that communication is what they deem necessary for the flock to know.

I can remember the old "new things learned" talks way back. I enjoyed them. Then the light went out and it became "continue in the things learned". Most ov the visits I remember were about bashing everyone over the head with a bat. Unless you were a pioneer or elder everyone just sat in their seats and puckered. We did have one CO James Wells, a very good speaker and seemed to speak from the heart.

My road to atheistism actually began when I was a JW. I would be sitting in the hall listening to another "mind numbing, boring, slit your wrist" kind of talk and my mind would wander off. Then I began thinking about the book of Genesis. It just didn't fit. It didn't make sense. I knew if Genesis were not true then the rest of the bible could not be.

Thanks TS
It was an enormous gulf to go from believing to not. It took many years to realize it. An entire belief system flushed. Where do you begin.

I started out with agnostic and graduated to atheist.

Making the Watchtower eat their own poop Re: Quotes
by Nosferatu inmost of us know the situation that quotes is in.
the watchtower is suing him for using their quotes in context, and giving credit to them as a source.
now, how does the watchtower quote other sources?

Fortunately Canada also has freedom of speech and press. I do believe the WTS climbing up the back side of the sewer to find a way out of this mess. They don't have a chance. Quotes lawyers would gladly take this case "Pro Bono" just to shove it up their asses.
