I think you are on to something.
Personally I have always wondered why such a sexist religion would even want females to go on field service, then I came to theory: (1)That a woman knocking at your door is less intimidating than a man, so you are more likely to get an answer. (2)Women are generally better a communication than men, so it's easier to start up a conversation or keep one going. (3) They cannot (men- ms, elders)bear children.
Any other thinkers out there wana add there 2 cents?

I agree with Jeff, cut your losses now, This guy is not going to change for anyone, he is a very selfish person. Besides why would you want to be with a spouse that is abusive?
You sound like a nice person, go back to school, get a hobby, and get away from him.
Incidently I would write a letter about how he decieved you and his parents and give it to them and maybe even is cong.

i hear and read alot about peoples experiences and some are pretty horrendous....does anyone actually feel they have benefited from being a jw at least in one way or another...me personally i feel i benefited from the ministry school as public speaking is part of my job and has definately improved career prospects?.

I think public speaking was great for me, I also can say it taught me good morals.

here's a question i hope someone can answer for me, if elders are aware that someone in the cong has been accused of child molestation/rape, and the elders have young children of their own how do they deal with this individual amongst them?

would they allow their kids to go on field service w/ this person?.

Would they allow their kids to go to the KH bathroom while that person is in there?
Would they allow their kids to visit that home?( Maybe molester has kids.)
What about get togethers ex: park, baby/wedding showers, weddings etc?
I wonder if the elders think of there families while they let their flock down by not warning other unsuspecting families of a very serious danger. Seems to wrong.

I was raised a JW I left when I was 17 yrs old.
I always questioned JW's veiws on women rights, sex and there total domination of families time.
So I knew early on I would never marry a JW, I married my husband at 24 he didn't even know what a JW was, so I explained, I have a lot of anger and resentment towards this cult it reall F**cked up my childhood, but I have since moved on and have a happy marriage, Now to the person that posted they would be afraid the spouse would go back to JW, I can attest that I will never ever ever go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I pity all the girls I knew at my old KH, I am sure they are all miserable, married so young, some with no HS education and the guys fared no better, so they all have kids and are broke.
I am the lucky one, I have love, $, family and a sense of well being.
