since the jw religion is sooooo restrictive, it is good to think about just how wacky this cult is.....for example, you can get counseled for buying a 2 door car as opposed to a "pioneer" car (4 door).

Same here. But I did still have to suffer through many years of being counseled, the worst for me personally was being told that I was to opinionated and that such behavior was unlady -like.

as i was taking my shower this morning i was musing about certain posts i had read the day before.

the one about the tampons just tickled me to no end.

I havw personally witnessed this happening and I know of people that come to the U.S. illegally and use and abuse the system. It's very sad that while you and I are law abiding tax paying citizens, we have people that come here and get on welfare, food stamps, Social security , free medications and medical treatment. It makes me very upset to see people do this and then flaunt it in your face.

I used to work for a major Credit card co, and we speacialized in less than perfect credit consumers, at one point the CEO saw an opportunity in the Spanish speaking population, no one else was targeting them and they had spending power so an new ad campaign and new products were created to target them, I could be here all day and night telling you horror stories! People applying for the credit card, getting the card in the mail then activating it, spending the full credit limit and then some only to never pay a cent, when skip tracing would catch up with these folks they would tell us that there was nothing that we could do to them as they really didn't need credit because they got government assistance, we don't need to buy a home, car, take out a loan whatever. But my personal favorite one was well I am here illegally anyways just to make money for the family and I am going back to *insert country of choice* and won't need your credit card or good credit and your country's no good anyway. <-----These comments happened daily more times than I or my peers would care to remember. Now before you go post and complain I worked in a Spanish speaking q and we all had Latin heritage, from many diffirent countries. So you wonder how does that affect you? Well after my co lost it's pants in this major venture we ended up raising our intrest rates, repricing almost all accounts and adopting a very intolerent attitude when it came to fee waivers or assisting our customers by having longer wait times and the best part was we downsized and 4,000 people lost their jobs, so if you live in Tampa, Richmond, Seattle or Dallas and were looking for a job, chances are you would have had a lot of competition in the job search.

What was that principle thinking? Grrrrr! I hope the principle goes to jail to for lack of respect, empathy stupidity and not informing the authorities of a crime in a timely fashion.

Can you be disfellowshipped for taking a yoga class?

i was just wondering since i've started taking a yoga class.

not that i would mind being df'd but not ready to lose the family.

i lost my wt library cd so i don't have access to the society's stand on yoga.

I am not sure if its a disfellowshipping offence but it used to be frowned upon. The reason being that while you meditate you empty your mind and the demons would have a better change to take over.

What?

What's wrong with Yoga? It's only an excersise style. I run and I have to stretch my muscles before hitting the treadmill for 40 min, does that mean that my stretching is evil? How does that affect Joe Hoba in anyway?

and do you think that rape victims should quit their bitchin and moanin? just because you don't LIKE to hear it doesn't mean anything. if people are upset about being discriminated against (god forbid...) then it's completely normal for them to air the complaint. you can't tell people to smile and be "classy" about being discriminated against.

We are not talking about rape victims here, but race don't quote part of what I said and use it for your personal benefit.

I personally dislike to hear people of whatever race boohooing over being discriminated aginst. It's all about what you make of yourself in life. In case you can't tell by my avatar I am a Latin woman. I grew up with people of many diffirent ethnic backgrounds.

Complaining for the rest of your life about race and what happened in the past will never allow you to grow as a person and will only harbor resentment, that's not to discount the evils of slavery and treatment of blacks, but that they can rise above it all and they have shown that. There will always be poor and better off, but it should have nothing to do with color. The more we dwell on a persons skin color the longer it will be an issue in years to come. We should see people for who they are or their actions not the color of their skin. DL76

if someone is gonna act racist towards me and mine not because of something i did just because of the color of my skin how can i move on from that? i can ignore it but how do i protect my kids other than telling then they are more that just niggers? i cant protect my kids forever.
how would you feel if someone treated your little kids that way? do you know how to tell a child that the reason why you cant play with johnny down the street is cuz his parents dont like black folks?
tell me how do you move on from what you cant control other that trying to be the best person you can be?

You can't protect your kids from everything as much as you would like to. And you cannot control how others think or veiw your race, you can only show by example what a fine person you are. If someone chooses to judge me because of my skin color, I will just smile and show them how much class I haved by not reacting negativley on the spot, although I would be seething inside. I grew up poor like many other hispanics and my goal in life has been to better myself and my family,so I have chosen a path of education, decency and class and I believe that's all you need to better your situation, if someone doesn't like black folks, don't sweat it, if they really think that they can judge someone by the color of their skin then that just shows you what a uneducated moron they are.

Dating/relationships and ex-dubbyness

ok, so i allways thought that dating someone who used to be a witless would be cool , since you would both kinda know what the other had been through in his/her life.

so my question is: how many of you date/have dated ex-witnesses, why or why not and does the relationship benifit from it...and just your ideas about it in general.. .

As a result, I'm tempted to say that "the only thing you have to fear is fear itself." However, life is so complicated...perhaps the better perspective might be "nothing ventured, nothing gained."
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
