Our Texas Memories

well we started off on early saturday morning (apr 24) and drove down to louisiana for the first leg of our adventure.

we stopped off for a brief visit with bryan and evelyn, and got to see the new baby boy, and he is real precious.

it was good to see bryan and evelyn again, and hopefully i will be back down that way again soon.. while in louisiana we stayed 2 nights with my stepsister in gonzales la, and visited the french quarter in new orleans.

I had such a good time, Zman also had a great time and enjoyed meeting people, but alas he cannot post here anymore so I will say this for him. Junctionguy It is such a shame that we live so far apart otherwise I would so love to picket with you against the borg.

I met some really great folks in Dallas, enough cannot be said about our gracious hosts Nina & Chris. I also really enjoyed talking with Megadude he's a bright man and deep thinker.Ohiocowboy and Dave were so sweet and nice, I was so glad to meet them, Sixofnine was awesome to talk to, wish he could have made Crawfest for more conversation. Elsewhere, Valis and Badger require no introduction as they are great guys and loads of fun to hang out with.

Please tell your lovely wife I enjoyed meeting her.

i just read the post about a person being counseled for having baby shower games.

question from a NJW regarding a family JW in medical condition

hello, this is my first post here and i will try and be breif.

i am not a jw but have an uncle and family who is strong into their belief.

my cousin (his son) is in the hospital and had a bad accident at work.

So sorry to hear this Maggie ((((((for you and your family)))))) It's your family and you have every right to be there, by all means go and show your support and concern, blood is thicker than water and no JW should make you feel insignificant. Good luck and I hope your cousin pulls through.

JW working the obituaries

i was reading my local paper this morning and there was a letter to the editor.

the writer had recently lost a child and the child's obituary was recently printed in our paper.

the writer said she received a letter with a "jehovah witness tract" called "what help for dead loved ones?

well, my sil and best friend came to this site on my recommendation (jw).

i just wanted her to check it out without judgement as we have always been able to talk about everything.

she basically was disgusted, said it was full of crap and lies and would never look at it again.

.....................i received an sms from mrs ozzie last night informing me that ozzie is having an extremely risky operation on wednesday morning, 8am australian time.

i can't give more details at this stage as to the procedure due to confidentiality but i can assure you it is going to be dangerous!

mrs ozzie said that it had to be done despite the risk.. so if all of us here could take a moment tomorrow and send positive thoughts.

Attendant ever treat you like a child at convention?

the last straw for me was when an attendant grabbed 22 yr. old me at a cnvention and told me to come inside it was time for it to start.

i said no, and he got in my face.

anyone else get told what to do as an adult?

The last assembly we went to, I was very very pregnant and had very swollen feet because of the heat (baby was born a week later) and we also had a ratty, hot, bored two year old Liam -so you can imagine the fun eh?
The air conditioning seemed to be turned off and it was too hot in the arena, we took Liam for a walk on the circle that goes around the arena. We were immediately stopped and told that we shouldn't be walking around during the sessions. We carried on, Simon was playing with Liam, I decided to sit in a seat that was against the wall, little attendant appears out of nowhere are tells me I can't sit there as its for attendents only- Simon stepped in a taught him a new phrase Then a while later we decided to take the lift, rather than me having to walk up the stairs to the top of the stand and then right down again to the front to get underneath the seating area where they the mother's room was - little attendent stops the doors closing and tells us to get out of the lift its for attendents only ! Simon taught him an even more colourful phrase We went home early shorty after that !

That's a great way to treat the weaker vessel GRRRR!

If these idiots had any idea how hateful it is to be 35+ weeks pregnant in the heat. Iam glad Simon taught him a colorful phrase, in my wrath and misery I would have done worse....those damn hormones!

Bookstudy Group Disbanded......haha

i just got word that the bookstudy attendance in one of the groups at my hall has dwindled off to numbers so pitiful that they're dissolving this particular bookstudy group and splitting up the remainder and shipping them out to other bookstudy groups.

I often thought the same thing, the book study was at our house for a couple of years and I hated having to get all dressed up to sit in my own living room I could never understand why all the pomp was so nessary, the borg instructs dubs to meet in homes for the bookstudy as a way to be prepared for persecution and the possibility of not being able to meet openly in the kh, now consider that if the JW's were to be persecuted and needed to resort to meeting secretly in peoples homes, all that dress up would be bring un-wanted attention and suspicion upon themselves, so why not just be dressed casualy while still being clean and well groomed? Just some of my thoughts.
