  A Common Dub Type?: The henpecked ubm who joins because of his nagging wife

  i have been around enough to recognize certain patterns in dub membership.

  for instance there is a very common situation, where a dub gets df, marries a worldy promising never to return, has a kid, gets reinstated, and then we have to console some poor sob who shows up here trying to figure out what the hell just happened to his/her life.

  i think i have isolated another common dub type; the weenie husband, whose wife joins, and then he joins too because his wife wears the pants and he does what he is told.

  Yes, and yes !!!!

  You are describing my brother-in-law, and my son-in-law !!!

  I had a feeling I was on to something. I kept hearing stories from former sisters here who would say, "my hubby joined when I did to keep the peace.... when I left, he left as well."

  Another one I kept hearing about was from people raised as dubs, "...mom joined, and since she wore the pants, dad just went along with it..."

  And then of course the observations I have made in the last 3 or 4 years.

  In defense of these poor namby-pamby men, I do admit that I can give in on an awful lot of things just so I simply never have to hear my wife talk about it again. I know she will only find something else to prattle on about, but at least I don't have to hear about THAT thing anymore!!!

  And I also think it can be awfully intimidating at times when you are surrounded with all these folks who are just so damn sure of themeselves. It really does take awhile to realize that it is a defense mechanism. Only people who aren't sure of themselves act that way, to compensate for reality. Real, honest people know they don't know what the hell is going on, so they admit it. I guess where the namby-pamby part comes in, is the weenie thinks, "I don't know what the hell is going on, but they are so confident, maybe they are right. I will accept them looking down on me for not beleiving it all, since I am not so sure about things...".

  A person with some huevos will say, "Knock that crap off!!! You don't know what the hell is going on anymore than anybody else!!!".

  I am glad it is all good. Actually this post came from a conversation I had with another poster. It was posted by me at his request. So it is a good thing I am not in trouble anymore, or it would be all his fault!!! And like a true namby-pamby I would be forced to blame it all on him, and request that all premenstrual rage be sent in his direction.

  Ok, so maybe a more accurate classification would be the guy who joins because of womanly coersion. The example I cited would be because she is a nag and he is a weenie. Your example would be more of a p-whipped type.

  So our genus is "converted-him door-knockerus" with two species known species of "weenimus maximus" and "weenimus whippidus".

  This is fun.

  My reasoning is PURELY inductive, and completely irreverant (aka don't take me seriously). These are things I have observed. These are true statements in that they are self reporting. I know that women who are abused tend to find husbands who are abusive. I have noticed on my own though, that many such women also tend towards men who let them wear the pants. That is all I am saying. No statistics cited.

  And I never once assigned blame for this type of dub getting dunked. If I were, I would place the responsibility soley on the guy. If anything, I thought I would get some grief for making so much fun of these types of guys. I don't think it was Eve's fault either by the way. On the other hand, you can't deny that women generally are naturally equipped and accomplished at manupulating the simplistic male mind.

  My own wife makes quite a sport of seeing if she can totally enrage me, and then through the proper application of her womanly wiles, make me completely forget about whatever it was she did, literally within seconds.   The specimen in question displays the following common traits: 1. The woman was abused. She is careful to marry a weenie, since she naturally doesn't want some tyrant ruling over her. Yet living under a tyrant is strangely comfortable for her since that is how she grew up, and wearing the pants all the time can be a little unnerving, so she joins a cult. 2. The weenie husband joins because his wife wants him to, because he was picked by her for his ability to do as he is told. 3. Later if that same woman wakes up and leaves, the weenie also leaves. So is this fairly common in your observations? Could we put this down as a common dub classification? What would be a good name for this sad shell of a man?   That is an intersting perspective Rod P. I know I have found many people in my life who had the "crazy eyes". Maybe I am just noticing the ones in the KH because deep down I think they are all a bunch of kook-balls. Maybe there is no statistical difference. Maybe I would be just as likely to find a "crazy eye" among any other group of folks.

  Or maybe they really are a bunch of bug-eyed, screw-balls.

  I guess I should clarify a few things given all of the comments so far.

  I am not saying ALL dubs have this look. I also notice that many who are not dubs have this look. I just tend to notice an awful lot of dubs who do. In particular, I spent the weekend with a woman who has that look ALL THE TIME. If you spend that much time talking to one of those people, you will get a little creeped out. And yes I agree, it isn't so much the Charlie Manson look. It is more of like doll eyes, like a mesmerized robot kind of deal.

  I found myself, and I think most here would tell you they had a similar experience, and that is once you move out you like your folks a lot better.

  I think that is universal. Dub has nothing to do with it. You will like your mom better once you leave. You will like her even better once she leaves (the org that is).

  Go easy on mom. She is the only woman that will really ever love you.

  Well, I do have to put up appearances every day in my home, that I am open to the idea of TFDS. If I do not, my wife won't talk to me about it.

  I also have to put up the same face to all the dubs who come around. Mostly I use them to practice my talking to cult members skills. I figure my wife is newly dunked, so she is still in her honeymoon phase, and bulletproof no matter how skilled I was at opening a persons eyes. Right now I am "sharpening my knife" and waiting for the shine to wear off for her.

  I do go to meetings every other week so "the family is together".

  I won't be going to the convention. If for no other reason than my son will not want to go. If I go, we need a baby sitter to watch him since he is only 9. I probably would go at least one day, otherwise.

  I do like infiltrating. It gives me a sense that I am actually doing something to counteract the damage being done to my family. Any POW will tell you that it is very important for morale that you resist in any way, no matter how small.

  I figured you would have some comments for this thread. You are an astute observer of the dub world. "The last word is always BIGGER" I always imagine you coming up with this stuff to amuse yourself during your hours of internment in mindless meetings.

  The signature is latin. It is an adaptation of a phrase used by Cato the Elder, he ended every speech to the Roman senate with it; "Censer Carthage esse delendam". It basically means "I declare, Carthage must be destroyed".

  I figured it worked for Cato.... Feel free to use it. I think we all should end our posts that way.

  The second part, that is just the attitude we who have loved ones in the cult need to take. No knockouts. No quick fixes.
