Any born-ins have this attitude about converts?
by Nambo inso there was this great gang of us, from south london, manchester and wolverhampton, went to socialise with a group in fishguard in wales.. amongst the conversations one of the single sisters stated, "i could never marry anybody who used to be in the world".. i guess a lifetime of knocking on doors had given her the impression there couldnt possibly be a convert in her midst, never mind later alone with her in her mgb.. so whats with this, did you think we had rat scabies or were possesed by demons or something?.

"Doomsday May Not Be What You Think" Actually, it's worse...
by undercover inon jw.org they have an awake article posted entitled, doomsday - fact, fiction and fantasy.. they go on to list a few doomsday fears that some people have, namely: supervolcanoes, asteroids, climate change, disease pandemic, extinction of critical species and of course, nuclear war.. each of the preceding fears was given a paragraph or two explaining the impact of such scenerios and the devastation it could bring.. now that they've got us all worried about our bees fleeing our bee hives as the asteroid makes impact on a supervolcano, causing an eruption which warms the earth's climate thus giving rise to deadly diseases...all the while some nut in a third world country has developed a nuclear weapon.... ...they seek to reassure you: doomsday may not be what you think.
oh, well... that's good.
i was starting to worry there for a minute.... what reassurance could these prophets of god give me?.

I didn't do it as a kid, and not even as an adult for awhile, but if you really try to envision life without electricity, fuel, transporation, readily available food and
medicine, does one really want to live in that situation?
Sadly, you don't have to envision this. You just gotta visit the right part of the world.

Funny how the article is structured by the topic.
Facts (Things that can happen): Natural Disasters
Fiction: Examples from the Bible.
Fantasy: WT Paradise

My take on current direction of WTBS
by Cagefighter inafter keeping up with the changes and new practices of the "org" one thing seems clear to me: the wtbs is looking at getting out of the religion business.
it seems running a worldwide religious organization is becoming too much of a legal liability especially when relying on uneducated and poorly trained men to run said organization.
look at the quagmire, the catholic church suffered with the child abuse scandal and this was a much larger and educated group of people.. that being said, i see the wtbs retreating back from being the head of the religion and moving back towards simply being a publishing company.

Not observations, speculations. I reallly doubt that would happen.

"Pilot Project" - Jehovah's Witnesses in Manhattan, with your new host... Robert Warren!
by cedars inyet another video effort by the society to be apparently pulled off jw.org and given an audience on youtube.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbohitd8goi.
my observations.... despite obvious attempts to garner praise, the feedback robert gets from passersby is far from glowing.
at best, it can be described as neutral, with none of those chosen to comment seeming to know anything about jw beliefs.

Are we losing members quicker than the WT ??
by wobble inreading a thread from just a few months ago, made me realise that a lot of people who used to be regular contributors here no longer do so.. i know that people have always moved on, as the anger and hurt get less, as the wt mind-set totally disappears, we feel the need to come here less and less, but because of the intelligence, insight, wit and wisdom of these people, the board is somewhat impoverished each time one of these moves on.. this is a plea to all who post now, and some who still read but don't post, please do not leave us entirely, the contributions on here are literally life-saving for many.
it is easy to get dangerously suicidal when the whole wt pack of cards falls down for you.. please do not become a stranger to us !.

I come here when I'm really bored at work. I wish I could contribute to the site by involving myself into WT topics but so much of it has left my brain that I wouldn't even know where to start.

Nice to know you're doing better Terry. And enjoy the new perspective on life while you are thinking abou it. Sometimes time and conformity washes that away.
