So..... are you apostates enjoying your mansions and private jets?
by Mr. Falcon ina super-zealous elder once told me in a very grave tone, "you know, mr. falcon, when someone becomes an apostate and leaves god's organization, they usually do very well physically and materially.
" hence the reason he claims that they feel "vindicated".
now i do also remember hearing such statements in the past from other witnesses.

No mansions or private jets, but I do live in a $95K home, truck paid off, 8-5 job hours, weekends free, and no credit car debt.

How the WTBTS creates atheists
by Nickolas ini am an atheist.
i arrived at this juncture in my life despite not wanting to.
when i first met the witnesses at 22 i was a seeker looking for answers to the question of life - in other words, prime cult target material.

I have days where I hate my job. This little town and the whole world too. And last Sunday when my Cowboys lost, Lord, it put me in a bad mood. I have moments when I curse the rain. Then complain when the sun's too hot. I look around at what everyone has and I forget about all I've got.
But I know I'm a lucky man. God's given me a pretty fair hand. Got a house and a piece of land. A few dollars in a coffee can.
Got some friends who would be here fast. I could call them any time of day. Got a brother who's got my back. Got a mama who I swears a saint.
Got a brand new rod and reel.... -

Harold Camping is certainly not the first to forecast the end of days. TIME takes a look at other movements that have scared people into believing their days were numbered The onset of World War I freaked a lot of people out. But it was especially trippy for the Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society, a group that's now called Jehovah's Witnesses. The society's founder, Charles Taze Russell, had previously predicted Christ's invisible return in 1874, followed by anticipation of his Second Coming in 1914. When WW I broke out that year, Russell interpreted it as a sign of armageddon and the upcoming end of days or, as he called it, the end of "Gentile times." History proved otherwise.

could Campings flop snowball?
by Aussie Oz inin 1975, the only way the wt could get the message out was via their own pulp mags, with a few bits of media taking note.
it must be said that it really was not only a flop for the jws, but not even newsworthy by todays standards.
by and large, most of the world were unaware of it all.. but fast forward to the internet and we can see how camping was able to go global in just a few months and reach far more people with the 'message' than jws could have hoped to reach in decades of door knocking.. and global are the repercussions for camping and his followers.

FAITH, the biggest excuse for IGNORANCE.
by nicolaou inwhen you claim that some impossible account from the bible is true are you doing so because of evidence and honest reasons or simply because you want it to be true?
if the evidence your claim is based upon ends up being proven false would you stop making the claim?.
if your claim is based only on wishful thinking then you are being dishonest with yourself.

I have faith in a purpose for mankind even if we go extinct. I believe we will be remembered.
Or the universe would not even miss us.

Doesn't the Watchtower teach that Christ didn't become the Messiah till he got baptized?
