first contradiction in the bible?
by cptkirk incontradiction without the use of an outside medium (such as archaeology, fossil study).
i just stumbled on this after reading the thread about adam and the sexual subliminal message.
i was thinking about adam and eve and chronology, and a contradiction popped up in my head...so i picked up the bible and there it is.. gen 1:27 - god creates adam and eve, tells them to be fruitful.. gen 2:18 - now adam is alone?

"Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over."
by Mr. Falcon in(numbers 5:23-28) 23 and the priest must write these cursings in the book and must wipe them out into the bitter water.
24 and he must make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and the water that brings a curse must enter into her as something bitter.
25 and the priest must take the grain offering of jealousy from the womans hand and wave the grain offering to and fro before jehovah, and he must bring it near the altar.

So is this implying that the priest shall impregnated her if she was found innocent?

I don't know if anybody has brought up that God created the animals as pairs, and he so happens to create Adam by himself.
I smell BS!

The Horus/Jesus comparison is very weak. There is no evidence to support what is been claimed.
It would've been cool if there was though....
P.S. LOL

Is there a reason to remain a JW other than for family?
by cedars inthis strikes me as an important question.
in my short time on this forum it strikes me that many contributors are quite open about keeping a foot in both camps.
some are apparently even elders, serving in positions of authority within their respective congregations.

Besides all the things that has been mentioned. POWER if you're an elder.
Some people are treated like shit in the real world and treated with respect in the Kingdom Hall. So yeah you would have to have very low self esteem to stay for that reason.

Imagine a riot here in the DFW area. There would be plenty of casualties! Specially if the owners were present. Store owners around rough areas are packing.

There I was completely wasting, out of work and down
all inside it's so frustrating as I drift from town to town
feel as though nobody cares if I live or die
so I might as well begin to put some action in my life -

That Magical Number: 2,520
by Quendi ini wanted to relate this experience i had on sunday while renewing ties with an old friend.
we argued about the meaning of daniel 4 and nebuchadnezzar's "tree dream".
my friend had insisted this dream told the reader the length of the gentile times.

You should've mentioned that the 2,520 actually came from John Aquila:
7 x 7 x 360 = 2,520 days = 2,520 years.
The funny thing is, 360 days, according to the Watchtower is a Lunar year.
But to get to 1914 they use 2,520 SOLAR days. LOL Fail.

I DID, dear NS (peace to you!)... and watched with that in mind. However, that's not how it was PRESENTED, at all. I mean, it was the typical WTBTS "bait and swtich" ("Oh, no, you don't HAVE to believe what we believe; we're open to ALL... and we LOVE all. But if you haven't converted and become one of us by [the end of the show]... well, it's because you're really just not intelligent enough... like us").
So when has the Watchtower or any other religious organization started off a subject with "This is my opinion"?

For those who do not believe in the Bible: Why don't you?
by Chemical Emotions ini don't believe in the bible either, but i'm just curious as to why others don't.
ridiculous misogyny and mass murder by a petty little god are two reasons for me.

Gladiator, I used to ask myself that when I was a witless. Why is the Bible better than the Koran? How would one know if we didn't read it, or any other religious books?
