some people (elders in this situation) just refuse to see the tree for the forest., they can't or won't begin to think outside of the box. If they heard someone secular spout the crap they do they would see it for what it was but when it comes to see about the crap they espouse, they can't or won't see it. Its like trying to reason with the wall in your bathroom. Can't get err done so to speak.

That 2 minute 45 second spot on the news many be motivitation for somek, but during this holiday period, how many people realistically seen it? Not that many would be my guess. We out here have to do our part. Send a letter email etc to local newspaer to the letters ofr the editro and see about making comments about how would we know that people who come to our door Witnesses that is, aren't pedophiles or child molesters. something to that effect.

Special Needs talk at our Hall tonite...

apparently, after the last co visit, our congo got a letter from headquarters, informing us that our numbers are wayyyy down.
several inactive publishers, several more irregular, poor meeting attendance, and our hourly average is less than the national average (8.3 compared to 9.9).

I have never really heard a special needs talk about just what is needed to help those in the congregation or those in our community. Just meeting attendance, ministry, and our money (they want all of it).

How was child molestation handled before 1996?
by neverendingjourney inas i recall, the abhor what is wicked article came out in 1996. in it, the society outlined their new child abuse policy, namely that known child molesters could never hold any positions of responsibility in the congregations anymore.
from what i understand, there were letters to the bodies of elders and special c.o.
instructions that further clarified the new position on handling child sexual molestation.

My guess is, is that it was handled by hiding it as much as possible and encouraging those affected to rely on Jehovah and pray. But whatever you do don't talk about it or we will disfellowship you for causing divisions in the congregation. Just look under the rugs thats probably how it was handled. I don't believe they weoudl ever do the right thing unless their were multiple witnesses and then it probably was to just shut the abused up.

Our elders expel unrepentant sinners who commit this crime. Now that is a bunch of bulls**t, the key word there is unrepentant, if they say they repent of their sins and ask the elders for help does this mean they aren't disfellowshipped? Probably from the way it sounds, repent and no expelling, no repent then expel, but only if you have two witnesses to the event. They are speaking out of both sides of their mouths. They should expel expel expel and prior to that warn congregation of the fact that there is a ped/molester in the congregation.

JWs just not important in this world no matter what they/we want to believe
by restrangled infor most of us raised in the "truth" and i hate to use that term, we were brought up/and or taught to believe we were very important in this world.
the message being preached, god's chosen people, yadda yadda.. so as we leave this religion, the things we can point to as being news worthy, those breaking the law in the ranks, coverups etc....its really small potatoes in the world at large, although to this group it is huge.. i believe that part of the letting go of the witness mentality is recognizing that in the end its all just a small cult that captured your soul, or you were born in and had no choice.
it sucks bigtime, its larger than life for most of us, but in the bigger picture of life its a very small blip.. there is no question this religion has ruined/destroyed many lives, but to the world at large it isn't big enough to make a differnece to those not involved.. in reality, to use a horrible analolgy.....the jw's are just a pimple on the butt of the world.. .

witnesses are only legendary to themselves. They have no real concept of just how they are viewed in reality. the latest several (aren't they all) book studies show them as making trumpet like proclamations that have supposed ly affected 1/3 of christendom or mankind however you wish to say it.
Here is one of their gems from a recent book study:
Chpt 25 para. part of 25 and 26 it reads "...
