New Watchtower format is all because of Blondie!
by drew sagan ini was just reading a thread about the new 'exciting' format for the watchtower and how there will be a jw only edition.
add to this what i believe is the new rule that da'd and df'd people are not allowed to receive the magazines unless they attend meetings.
this all got me thinking.... .

Why did you want to be an elder?
by ThomasCovenant ini'm curious to know reasons for wanting to be an elder?.
some have expressed to me they wanted to use their abilities to help others.. another said he wanted to be in the inner circle to make sure he was able to look after his families' interests in the event of any future mishaps by his children.. i think many just get caught in the web of handling microphones, then ministerial servant then elder.. i know it's easy for me to say as i wasn't any of these (apart from microphones) but .
i can't help thinking for most men it is simply helping to fulfill a desire for more power.. many don't seem content to be viewed as a mere publisher but want to get in on the action, knowing all the gossip and being involved on decisions.. is it true that deep down, even though most may have good motives, it is still out of a feeling of self importance.. thanks .

There are two ways to take this: as a hardcore JW, it would not be acceptable to the individual to not attain this pinnacle of service. From the congregation's view it is not generally acceptable for a male to be in his 30's and not yet be appointed an elder unless there are some extenuating circumstances.
I wanted to be an elder (never was though) because I generally thought I could make a difference. I've read too many experiences here and elsewhere to know that is not the case.

I was reading LARGE PRINT.
LOL. True. True.
Before long there will be one big word on each of the 4 pages of the KM: DO WHAT WE SAY.
Another newish tactic for the Service Meeting is to give a part based on an older KM (often only a few months older.) For example, if there is a part this week called "Joyfully Fulfill Your Divinely Appointed Ministry" the instructions will be "Talk and audience discussion based on January, 2007 KM article "Fullfilling Our Godly Approved Service With Joy."
(Those are just made up articles, don't go looking for them.)
