Waking up to be alive for another day and then going back to sleep for another hour. Thankful I dont have to review for Sunday's Watchtower. Happy that I am my own person and of course my morning smoke..............

I went to the memorial last night and it was the first time in 7 years that I had stepped foot into the Kingdom Hall. Same old reteric as before, you get such a better view of their teaching methods (brainwashing?) when you are looking in from the outside. I couldnt stop thinking how could I have blindly accepted everything they use to shove down my throat. Funny how they have a big push to get newbies, disfellowed ones and the lost sheep to the hall for the memorial and then by the way how bout a free bible study or better yet come back agian next week for a brand new discourse on blah, blah, blah. By brand new we mean same old recyeled material with a new twist and by new twist we mean we now see something in a new light. And by new light we mean we just decieded to change the rules based on a coin toss which landed on heads.
Another memorial has passed, I believe the speaker said 8500 or so annoited were left. Anyone know for sure what was said. You figure they would list the remaining annotied numbers in each Watchtower sort of like a countdown clock to the big day. Arrmaggedon is almost here- better take us up on the free bible study, we are your last hope.

Who else is not going to the memorial for the first time this year?
by Pole inwell, it's going to be the first memorial i'll miss out on.
no big deal, but i guess it has to be considered one of the final stages of "apostasy" :-).
i remember i used to see some df-ed people at memorials.

Besides that past 2 years I have attended memorial every year of my life. I am leaning towards going this year to see some old friends. I am hoping I run into some old D.F'ed friends of mine and apoloize for shunning them because the elders judge them to be unworthy of the borg. I am not disfellowshipped ( cant figure that out) so I can still talk with alot of families I grew up. Kinda of like a reunion, but I can see the pity in there eyes because I am a "lost sheep" Strange though that I pity them as well

What do our handles/nicknames collectively say about us?
by AlmostAtheist ini noticed a few prefixes/suffixes/concepts keep popping up in people's nicknames on this site.
i wish i had all the subscriber names in a spreadsheet to play with it some more, but i just did a real cursory glance around and saw some interesting bits.
notice this:prefix to handlenumber of occurrencesfree (like in "freedomfrog")35rebel 5lost 12happy 17hate 0love 14. in additon, there were 4 variations of the phrase "had enough".

Not to creative with mine, Its just my name. I didnt choose a handle because I wanted any J.W's in my area to know that it was me. It's kinda of a " Here I am and there is nothing you can do about it" attitdue. I quess I was in a rebelous mood or to put it more bluntly I wanted to say a nice F.U to any elders that might run across my posts.

Class Action Lawsuit in Wrongfull Death against the Governing Body
by frankiespeakin ini'm not very knowledgable about legal things but would there be any profitablity in a class action lawsuit in the wrongfull deaths caused by the governing body's enforcement of a "no blood transfusion allowed" policy which used the threat of disfellowshipment.
couldn't close family members sue and win?
-

If someone can sue McDonalds over hot coffee and thousands of people can sue Big Tobacco over doing something they know is harmful, it's not unresonable to think that someone can sue the Society for brainwashing someone to not accept a blood transfusion. Even if it only helps so the rest of the world how crazy the JW's are.

South Florida
by claytoncapeletti inhello everyone, i was raised in the borg from about 1983 till i fell away around 1998. i have only been to a couple of memorials over the years and i have lost touch with alot of people that i care about.
just wondering if there were any other ex-witnesses on this board from the hollywood area.

It's nice to meet you all. It's comforting to be able to express issues and feelings that only other ex-jws can relate too. We all need to continue being complete people without the need of an organization to connect with our higher being of choice. Keep up the good work everyone! It's easier to defeat an enemy when we are united.

what we used to call "privileges"
by in a new york bethel minute inof all the privileges only brothers may have, doing mics seemed to be one of the most tedious.
it was definitely something you could graduate from... but why?
when i was the sound guy, it was always so hard to get brothers to do the mics.
-
claytoncapeletti
Ah yes, I remember the good ol days of walking around with the mics. Trying not to laugh when my friends made faces, trying to hold the mics still while some know it all answered. From the mics I was promoted to the sound board, then all the way to the maginze counter. Everyone used to tell me I was building up experence so that I would be a minsteral servant. Then on to being a ELDER! Man what a missed oppurtinutiy I had. If it werent for that pesky thing called free will and indepent thinking, I could still be climbing the societys ladder to success!
Much love
