  my wife is joining.

  she feels that the choice is between nothing and god, and that the only way to have a relationship with god is through these people.

  Just a suggestion - does the priest / vicar at your own Church have any ideas? Sometimes they have come across JW's, or they know someone "clever" who you can talk to, to help you refute their arguments.

  My ex-husband (non-JW) would not let me take our son anywhere NEAR a KH when I first got "involved" with them. (Quote - "you take him anywhere near that place or those loonies and I'll take him abroad").

  I am so glad now, even though I was furious at the time (I've wised-up since). My ex used to grill our son to find out what I'd been telling him, so fortunately I daren't tell him much, because I wanted to spare the poor lad (he was only 7 at the time) from his Dad's grillings.

  I'm a teacher and I always think the best thing you can do for the kids is teach them to QUESTION EVERYTHING, especially what teachers tell you, because they're all fruit and nut-cases.....!

  It sounds to me like you are doing all the right things.

  You know you're NOT a JW anymore when...(add some)

  you don't automatically wake up with a headache on sunday morning.... you no longer go around (while in field service) mentally deciding what home you'll "have" after armaggedon.... every item of clothing you buy as a woman is not first assessed for its modesty value.... you no longer worry about the 144,000 watching you have sex...:).

  when on holiday you don't have to find the nearest kingdom hall asap (remember brother and sisters you are not on holiday from jehovah!!!).

  being able to laugh about having a numb ass at the assemblies from sitting and the hilarity in having to tell people that you found the meeting "uplifting" when really you were fighting sleep the whole time.... you no longer have to avoid entire sections of music stores in order to make sure you don't pick up and "demonistic" vibes from backmasked cd's.

  Tough day -- my mom died today

  poor thing, she's had alzheimer's for about 10 years and the last year she's been on hospice care because she's been so close to death.

  the past few months she's been slowly filling up with water -- they gave her lasix (not sure of the spelling) to relieve the edema and it worked, sort of.

  last weekend she actually looked a little better.

  I am so sorry about your Mum. You must feel like it's one tragedy after another these last few years, it just doesn't seem fair.

  I can tell you've got a wonderfully loving little family around you, and I know you will all help each other through.

  You are a lovely person, and lots of people will want to help, so let them. You don't have to be Superwoman.

  this came to my attention this afternoon, i wonder why?

  "it is important for men to remember that as a women grow older, it becomes harder for them to maintain the same quality of housekeeping as when they were younger.

  when you notice this, try not to yell at them.

  Tee-hee.

  We have a TV program in the UK called "Britains worst husbands" or something like that.

  One guy actually rings his wife up on her mobile as she walks to work to tell her he wants another cup of tea, and she dashes back home to make him one.

  But the best one was the laziest husband whose wife actually accompanied him to the bathroom every day, armed with a box of tissues. Yes, it's true.

  PS:- My late husbands ex-wife (JW) was astonished beyond belief to learn that since he married me he had happily become very proficient at all sorts of domestic chores ! Needs must...............

  Amazing how we take things for granted. My wife and I spend time together, we talk and watch movies together like two young love birds. I make sure I notice life around me. I'm in awe with life. There is so much to be in awe about, however, we're distracted by the pleasures of life and personal pursuits. I'm not against such things its just needs to be in 'balance.'

  Yes, "My" Dan & I were exactly the same (even though he was 60 and me just a youngster - cough-cough). And he would have said exactly the same thing.

  Care to share any experiences.............

  I would agree it depends on your situation, and what you mean by living.

  My husband Dan always said ?Carpe Dieum? , and he lived it too. He had time for everybody, whatever the situation. He loved reading Thoreau and Emerson.

  After Dan died (is it only 5 weeks?) I feel in some ways I have been just existing, because I am not ?whole? without him.

  But in another way, I have been really living, for the 1 st time ever. This is because I have been suddenly forced to take life one minute at a time, and not worry about tomorrow. I feel that tomorrow may never come and so I have to love the people who are around me as much as I can because who knows?.it might be the last chance I get. And I notice every little thing around me that I didn?t take enough time to see before, like the snowdrops coming out in my garden this morning. So whilst it is very painful, it is certainly ?living?.

  6 weeks ago I was struggling to complete a post-grad teacher-training course which I absolutely hated, determined to get through it just to further my career, to ?achieve? stuff (story of my life). My friends thought I must be living ? ?there she goes, doing something different yet again????. But I was existing. Now I realise all that career crap?s not important.

  When I get through this grief I?m going to do what Dan always did ? concentrate on caring for the people I love and let the rest take care of itself. I just wish I hadn?t had to lose him to make me realise he was right.

  i posed this question to my tbjw (true believer jehovah's witness) wife:.

  "what if it was proved to you without a doubt (i conceded that this was not possible) that the gb had no special mandate or guidance from hs?

  what if they were just like anyone else who reads the bible alot?
