The Reprints can be purchased as bound volumes (July 1879 - December 1916 only, twelve volumes) from the Chicago Bible Students for $100 + Shipping/Handling. However, because the Bible Students are viewed as the "Evil Slave Class" this may not be such a viable option. Nevertheless: http://www.chicagobible.org/LDSOrderForm-Brethren.PDF

Purchasing Zions Watchtower
by concerbedbf inis it possible to purchase/obtain (zion's watch tower) reprints or bound volumes, from a source that a jw could not object to.
the reason i ask is, i showd gf the article on freeminds "blacks and the watchtower".
she was appaled and of course argued that these were not really written by russel or any jw (in good standing).

by xjwms inremember that awake march 22, 1993 on page 4.......in the left side of the page.

its that they decided all by themselves.. .

Never did they say, "These are the words of Jehovah"
Actually, they did:
"Jehovah's prophetic word through Jesus Christ is: 'This generation [of 1914] will by no means pass away until all things occur.' (Luke 21:32) And Jehovah, who is the source of inspired an unfailing prophecy, will bring about the fulfillment."

How often should the Lord's Supper be celebrated per year
by avidbiblereader ini have always had a problem with this from the scriptures, i understand the old law and replacing the passover but those laws did not apply to the new covenant and my question centers around pauls words to the 1 cor 11.
1 cor 11:17-20 .
17but, while giving these instructions, i do not commend you because it is, not for the better, but for the worse that you meet together.18for first of all, when you come together in a congregation, i hear divisions exist among you; and in some measure i believe it.19for there must also be sects among you, that the persons approved may also become manifest among you.

In fact, it's said that the churches of the east (asia minor) did this and Polycarp is known to have followed in this tradition which he said he received from the Apostles or those who knew the apostles. He even went to Rome to talk to the "bishop" of rome because they didn't follow such tradition.
Just bcz Paul says "as often" doens't mean or imply it should be done every day or every week. bcz for that matter, then it'd be better to do it back to back, many times a day. I go with every year based on the Jewish calendar like Polycarp did.
According to the Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge, the Pascha was celebrated once a year: by the quartodecimans on 14. Nisan, by the other Churches on Good Friday (q.v. under "Easter"). However, the same Encyclopedia states that the Eucharist (i.e. Communion) was celebrated weekly (on Sunday) by the early Church.
The fact that the Church in Corinth ceased treating the Lord's Supper with respect so very quickly (1 Cor. chapter 11) militates against the likelihood of the Lord's Supper being an annual event; it became profaned because of its frequency.

Women are in subjection to their husbands and to the Elders!!!!!
by Gill inthe february 15th watchtower 2007, is spectacularly nauseating!!!
at least i found it so.. i would welcome the opinion of all on the board to this sentiment on page 19, paragraph 8 and9:.
'although subjection can be challenging, women can welcome it as honorable, even as did jesus.

The Watch Tower Society must be providing "New Light".
Please contrast the following "Old Light":
W 15. October 1996, p.13, paragraph 19: "Single Sisters, not having a human head to consult with and confide in, may be apt to 'throw their burdens upon Jehovah."

Knocking on Doors on Holidays
by Medic!? indid anyone else's congregation "strongly encourage" this practice?
when i was a worshiping rusell.... jehovah.
i felt sick to my stomach and disgusted that these people had absolutely no consideration for the beliefs or practices of others.

I always felt that "witnessing" on the holidays (especially on New Year's Day, when hangovers abound) was not only ineffective but exceedingly counter-productive: those you've irritated are unlikely to forget and receive you charitably at any future time, holiday or not...
Good show, WTS!!! Keep up the fine work!!!

JW Children Lie in Custody Cases
by compound complex indirect and cross-examination questions in child custody cases.
wtb&ts, page 42.
"be careful that they [jw children being questioned] don't get the impression that they are in a demonstration at the circuit assembly, when they would show that the first things in life are service and going to the kingdom hall.

1914.... Quotes that mislead the reader
by drew sagan inone of the main ways the watchtower is able to mislead people is by impressing them that they actually fortold the events of 1914. they point to magazine articles and simply make stuff up in order to 'prove' that years in advance they announced that christ would return in 1914. typical is this quote: why, then, do the nations not realize and accept the approach of this climax of judgment?
it is because they have not heeded the world wide advertising of christs return and his second presence.
since long before world war i jehovahs witnesses pointed to 1914 as the time for this great event to occur.

Drew, if I remember correctly, that same paragraph has some manner of statement castigating non-Witnesses for failing to note the 'separating work going on before their very eyes since 1914'. Of course, now that the teaching has been altered, it would appear that the nations were not so very stupid; only the Society was stupid for insisting (until October 1995) that a separating work had been taking place...

Has the Watchtower changed its mind or did I miss something?
by Gill inin all my years as a jw, my understanding had been of wtbts belief, was that the 144 000 were resurrected in a 'twinkling of an eye' and never actually experienced death.. did i understand wrongly or has the watchtower changed its mind......again?.
january 1st watchtower, page 27 .
when does the first resurrection occur?

I suspect the "new light" will be this: Governing body members could be members of the "great crowd" rather than "anointed". If the "faithful & discreet slave" can communicate from beyond the dead, you don't really need any living on the earth, do you?
I'm not so sure of this. If memory serves, the WTS already stated in the Revelation book that the 24 Elders (i.e. the resurrected members of the 144 000) communicate with the "John Class" (i.e. anointed Christians still on Earth) -- emphatically NOT with members of the "Other Sheep". Or was that teaching among the seventy changes to be made in the Revelation book?
