Everyone who can prove discreet is invited (BYOB). This clearly exempts the GB!
i find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?

since the jw religion is sooooo restrictive, it is good to think about just how wacky this cult is.....for example, you can get counseled for buying a 2 door car as opposed to a "pioneer" car (4 door).
My wife was counseled for having become pregnant (probably something in the semen...) even though it was the result of marital sex (!)
I was counseled for having an "untidy" woodpile (!)
My wife was shunned by a number of "sisters" and two Elders for "covering" during prayers at the KH (and she was informed that the 1964 WT articles re: said "covering" were "Old Light" (!)

Most of the SIX MILLION know nothing of 1975 (they entered the Org after "Armageddon"!), and if the WTS may have its way, they never will hear anything TRUE about it. It is quite amazing that even those who were JW's IN 1975 seem to have a real ignorance regarding that most fateful date. Selective memory? Defective memory? NO memory? I remember, and that's why we'll be having a 30-year-Anniversary-of-Armageddon party this October!!!!
the slave has lied to me for years
my eyes fill with tears
all wrong dates
Hi, Schne-
Good Stuff! We got our copy of the poem in the US mail this morning (already congratulated the Poet!), also a copy of the poem which "inspired" the REBUTTAL. Maybe you'd like to post the other as well, so we can see a fine example of the Lemming-thought-process which is so much a part of the JW-subculture....
im not talking about q & a from wt literature.
im talking about asking questions to the speaker during a meeting.
if not do you know someone that has did he or she get punished?
"Honesty", you take the words out of my mouth; it's not really worth the aggravation and why become a magnet for unwelcome attention?
I DID make a statement regarding my disbelief in "1975=Armaggedon" during a meeting for Field Service once, when I was about ten years old. An Elder cured me of my talkative nature in short order. (Well, not really. I still suffer from Foot-in-Mouth Disease.)
several months ago, i asked a friend of mine from church to become my "accountability partner.
" basically, someone that meets with me once a week and we share what is going on in our lives.
the point is to share joys, unburden griefs, pray together, pray for each other, be brutally honest with each other, study the bible together, etc.
I like this old saying - "God wants spiritual fruits, NOT religious nuts" (!)
in my opinion (for the sake of sixofnine and his propensity toward apoplexy):.
it seems to me that while there are many issues that we could address regarding the watchtower bible and tract society/governing body/congregation of jehovah's witnesses, there is one that stands out as uniquely given to ease of communication.
i would like to take this opportunity to state which issue and why, then invite open commentary.. the issue of the watchtower bible and tract society attaching itself to the un/dpi.. while i readily agree that this is minor in importance compared to matters like child molestation and failed prophecy, i see this as the easiest to bring up, the easiest to substantiate, and the easiest to demonstrate long-term gross error in.
Yes. Remember: the new, improved Organization book explains that one may be declared disassociated for joining a secular group with goals inconsistent with those of the Messianic Kingdom. I'm waiting for one of the "Friends" to inform us (tearfully) that at the Service Meeting it was announced that "The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" (!)

JW's do not come to their beliefs from a study of the BIBLE, but rather from the indoctrination force-fed to them via the "Christian publications" considered during "Christian meetings".
For fun, give some thought to Galatians 4:26,27. If you feel you can't tell who is who, look at the WT 95 01.August, p11, paragraph 8, which clearly (and correctly, I hasten to add) identify the "barren/desolate woman" and "her who has the husband". There appears to be a mathematical problem when comparing the scripture with the WTS' two-hope, two-class Christian system, in which only 144 000 could POSSIBLY have a heavenly hope. (Also look at Eph. 4:4).
i remember going to sunday meetings...the public talks went by fast (sometimes).
but the watchtower study to me was so boring and not interesting at all.
it felt longer than the public talk.
Sphere said: "the extra effort to add a new thought that was not clearly printed in the paragraph doesn't go over too big".
Lads, isn't that the truth! I once had a Brother tell me he feared mine was the only Bible with James 1:27 or 1 Tim 5:8 in it. Not infrequently these scriptures were featured in answers prefaced with: "Although it is not cited in the paragraph...". Eventually, my unwelcome comments ceased (along with any other comments, as well).

-if ever in your mind you wonder as to whether the leadership at watchtower has some level of sincerity, or perhaps as you move deeper into your pursuit of the real truth, you find yourself having doubts that you are doing the right thing in "doubting" the watchtower ?then read on.
Yes, Blondie. The video equates Moses and the Org, while Korah & Co. are said to represent any and all who might question the "spirit-appointed elders" (designated reps for the WTS), or (gasp!) the WTS ITSELF (OMG!!!!).
It apparently occurs to no one in the KHs that the Greater Moses is our Lord Christ Jesus (most emphatically NOT the WTS) and Korah & Co. represent the WTS, which is doing everything it can to usurp Jesus' God-given position.
Guess I'll be one of those Israelites who flee from Korah, lest I be "swept away in all their sin". (Numbers 16:23-35).
