Might I also add that I think the letter should be handwritten and personally addressed to the individual - JMHO. I think it would look more sincere and heartfelt and less like a chain letter that way.

Apostagrams!
by Swan ini want to repeat an idea i have been mulling over for some time.
i responded on another thread with this same idea.
on that thread someone wanted to send a newly df friend some comforting message, but was afraid of revealing herself and leaving herself open to possible dfing.

HOW WOULD A WITNESS ANSWER THIS?
by Mary ini thought of a question i'd like to ask my sister-in-law (who's a fanatical dub).
i'd like to say to her: "...if it could be proven to you beyond any doubt that this was not the "one true religion", would you still go to the kingdom hall?...
i figure it's a catch-22 that really ought to make them stop and think.

I probably would have responded by saying, "it has already been proven to me as "the truth". i have been there done that in other religions and in the world. i am satisfied that this is "the truth" and i no longer have need to search elsewhere."
That's drama! I really thought that way. It wasn't until I truly lived through being a witness to the fullest through thick and thin good and bad that I realized it was not the truth.

Swan:
The letter sounds great! I hope this gets up and running. I am more than willing to help in any way I can.
The only thing that strikes me after reading the letter is that I would want to communicate my personal concern for what that person may be going through having been disfellowshipped and being shunned by family and friends.

WT Rule: Disfellowshipped Should Shun One Another!
by Swan inanybody remember this?
two people who are disfellowshipped can't talk to one another and can't even carpool to the meeting.
i seem to remember this vaguely mentioned in a previous thread.

that is the most redicilous thing i have ever heard!!! i even read at one time (back in the late 80s) that if you saw a df'd person on the side of the road with a flat tire you should help her/him but these elders allowed someone to walk daily 3 miles in the snow to get to meetings unassisted! christian love abounds

by vitty ini went to my first meeting in 9 months (dont ask ive got my reasons cant say on an public board).
they reviewed a wt july 1st page 12----19. it was saying that you should have concern for people who are spiritually weak you should remember all the good things they had done in the past.

Oh yes we where trying to be inconspicuous not a chance when i sat down i broke the chair, it cracked so loud I nearly died. there where big gasps and a big bit of plastic flew down the isle
That would be my luck if I ever decided to go to a meeting again - lol! I'm sure you wanted to curl up into a ball...
I remember my last appearance was at an assembly with a friend who wanted me there for support. She had not attended in quite some time. I just felt so uncomfortable and out of touch with what they said from the platform, how unloving people treated me and my friend, etc. I just didn't relate anymore. It really reconfirmed my decision not to be part of that religion anymore and at the same time she decided to go to the elders, get disfellowshipped and work her way back.
How do you feel after going?

I was called by a JW wanting a favor...
by Dawn inyep - you read that right.. i had a message on my answering machine - a jw i used to know long ago, left a message, wanting me to help out with some legal matters (i have worked for the criminal justice system for about 15 yrs now).. my husband just about had a cow - here's someone who wouldn't talk to me at the grocery store, but has no problem talking to me if they need something?
i thought to myself, could this person really be that nieve about human social situations - ie: if you're going to be mean to someone, don't expect a favor from them .
ok ok, i know - i should show more christian attitude, turn the other cheek, and call this person back.

I know which cheeck I'd turn .
I certainly would not return the call. If he called me back and I happened to answer the telephone I would let him know I was not comfortable having any dealings (how's that for karma) with him.

this will be my 3rd and last. i did to my oldest daughter what was done to you . her name is alexandria but we all call her lexi (i call her doodle short for lexi-doodle). i'm sure she will get drama eventually when she signs things. my son's name is really simple: cole. we all have nicknames for him though... cole-bear, colitis, colby, etc.
i like reghan too but my husband is the winner since we agreed to go with the majority. reagan brooke won out in 3 different polls
my name is pronounced erin but it's spelled aryn. i've only seen one other person with my spelling.

Old Friend Disfellowshipped - Would Like Advice
by adelmaal ini have been away from "the truth" for quite some time (about 6 years) and i heard from my daughter and friend the other day that someone i knew back when had recently been disfellowshipped.
he was actually one of the elders on my original committee when i was having drama with that religion.
he was a good guy, always having gatherings at his house (superbowl, etc.

Carmel:
That's a great idea. Maybe I will just give him a call to see how he is doing. Let him know I heard what he is going through and I am here if he wants a friend. Then I can feel him out and I will know if I should present the book or not eventually.

You have all helped us to decide. It will be Reagan Brooke (traditional spelling). Nickname: ragin' brook - lol.
I love both names so I am happy with our decision. My sister's middle name is Brooke so she will be happy also...
Thanks
