Jez:
Your posts have inspired me on more than one occasion. It sounds like you are doing great with your daughter and I am trying to follow suit
my daughter is at her dad's house 50% of the time and he along with his family have been indoctrinating her since birth.
up until recently she has always said she is a jehovah's witness.
i have been reasoning with her in the past 6 months to a year (i used to take the path of least agression but final decided i need to combat some of their teachings if she is to think for herself).

it's friday evening!
how will you be spending your weekend?
what will you be doing to relax tonight folks?.
5 more hours to go here...
Tonight I will be hanging with my hubby whose been desperately applying and interviewing for a new job. I will be trying to cheer him up and remind him to be patient for the job offers I know he will eventually be getting.
God love him he works so hard and he's just so anxious to find something so he can "take care of the family". I have to keep reminding him that the whole reason the family is taken care of and not in need of anything is because of him and it will all work out. Being unemployed is just so hard on a man who wants so badly to handle it.
Anywho... We will probably do dinner and a movie.

Awww... Thanks everyone! You gals/guys are all so supportive ...
It was a small step for mankind but a large step for my daughter... She wanted to go on some website where she could put together fashion looks for some kind of dolls that are popular now. I believe they are called "My Scene" dolls. She mentioned to me the fact that I had bought her one for her birthday. Who knew?
She is most certainly going to be a handful at 16 with her "bad self" but I am also hoping she is a normal handful minus that cult influence . I was a handful and would not expect anything less. She's actually already becoming quite the handful. I'm sure it will eventually be her downfall with the dub relatives (especially with her passive-agressive controlling PO grandfather).
It was just such a shocker to hear her say "I am not a Jehovah's Witness" because up until recently she has always said, "Because I'm a Jehovah's Witness" whenever anyone asked her why she could or could not do something in school (holidays, etc.). I am glad to see that my grinding it into her head that "Just because your dad is a Jehovah's Witness does not mean you need to be one also. I chose not to be a Jehovah's Witness and I am now a Christian. You will eventually decide how you want to worship God when you are older. For now you are a child experiencing life." is working.

Anyways, last night my daughter wanted to use our laptop to go online (she's 10 years old). I made the comment that I didn't think Jehovah's Witnesses were supposed to use the internet. She responded with this, "First of all I am not a Jehovah's Witness. Second of all they are only discouraged from using chat."
I laughed and said, "You go with your bad self."
I was so excited to hear her admit the fact that she realizes she does not need to be a Jehovah's Witness. She can choose whether or not she wants to be one. Yippee! I think I may be getting through...
i came across this site, and while still my upbringing says i should stay away from such site, i had to join.
a bit of a background about me.
i'm 31, my parents became witnesses when i was born so they could give me the best upbringing they felt possible.
Look on the bright side....You're no Scientologist ?!?
True - LOL

EvilForce:
I took that quiz you suggested the Belief-O-Matic quiz and the results were a bit interesting and disconcerting at the same time... I am so not becoming a Mormon and I can't believe I still have 89% agreement with JWs. WTF is wrong with me...? Hmmm... Back to the drawing board . Guess it just goes to show no manmade system of religios beliefs is going to satisfy me fully. I must take what I agree with an leave the rest behind. How much you wanna bet these results will be different come a year from now...

since leaving the jws and joining my current company i get asked every six months to give blood.
i've never done it and still feel as if i had an accident i would be very reluctant to have a transfusion.. if its not too personal can i ask what others views are on this and your experiences if any?.
crumpet
There are so many conditions that could be introduced such as: lupus, diabetes, leukemia, etc. Whose to say you will not end up predisposed to one of those things after taking a blood transfusion.I would be very interested to see any evidence or references for these claims. I have certainly never heard of any research that indicated that one could "catch" diabetes or cancer.
Like I said, "Not that I'm an expert or anything." Those were just my opinions not to be taken as fact.
Personally, I use a condomn when I have sex so as not to contract anything and I don't just have sex with anyone. There is no condomn for blood and who knows who the blood is coming from. I am just not interested in introducing foreign bodies into my system, unless absolutely necessary, for fear I would be introducing any predispositions the person has toward any diseases, etc. into my body. JMHO.
As I said though, if blood is necessary to save my life I would consider the benefits of taking it to outweigh the risks of not taking it.
I am an organ donor and I plan to get into the bone marrow registry awhile after I deliver my baby since I'm not sure it would be safe at this juncture and I cannot afford the time off work right now. As for donating blood... I have not done so yet but I imagine I will in the future.
announced our circuit overseer last night in his talk about the urgency to preach because of the times.
followed by a silence that was broken with ohhhs and ahhhs.
he said that a couple of times throughout his part, simulating a beating heart with his fist.
I remember everytime before a storm there would be tons of crows out in the fields my mother would look at them and say look they are getting ready for their feast after armagedon
If I heard someone say that now I would be taken back. I would say, "How can you even say such things. Do you listen to the words coming out of your mouth?" It's wierd to think I was caught up in that kind of thinking at one time.
as i was taking my shower this morning i was musing about certain posts i had read the day before.
the one about the tampons just tickled me to no end.
crazy stuff people will do to enforce whatever crazy ideas they have about human sexuality.
In the meantime, all we can do is try to help in our own little way.
yes, i agree.

But all this has not stopped people from pointing the finger at me and telling me that I should go back to where I came from.
