I keep seeing that name and would love to know who in the heck he is/was...
Was he part of the Governing Body at one time? Is he in CoC? I have only gotten 1/2 way through the book so far...

not sure if this is a "made up" email or not -- sounds like any other talk you've ever heard..... .

I remember having him over for lunch and my wife cooked this enormous meal, turkey with all the trimmings, a regular Thanksgiving dinner. Later that week, addressing the congo, he made a big deal out of sisters preparing big meals for the CO when what was really necessary was that they be out in FS that day and settle for something simple and easy to prepare for lunch. My wife never cooked a turkey for a CO again.
ROFLOL. A simple thank you to your wife for her kind efforts wouldn't do - huh.
I remember a CO visit where I made a turkey for the lunch. The CO's wife insisted we sisters do the dishes while the brothers sat and talked. She wanted to make sure the kitchen was clean prior to going back out in service. I told her I had cooked the meal and my out of work husband had agreed to do the dishes later - LOL. She looked at me like I was insane! How could I possible expect my husband to do the dishes? They so don't get it. I worked full-time and he sat on his butt but because he was a man he didn't need to do dishes. He needed to talk with the CO so he could take care of our spiritual needs.
She was more worried about the spots on my dishes than she was in getting back out in service. She gave me a big lecture about cleaning my silverware with hot water so there would be no spots. I did use hot water but like I cared whether or not there were spots on my silverware?
Off my soapbox now. Your CO visit comment just got me on a roll!
apostate literature - i have read the lot.
you name it - c of c, gentile times reconsidered, thirty tears a watchtower slave, the orwellian world of jehovah's witness, apocalypse delayed, and the freeminds and watchtower observer sites, so on and so on.
and i have been reading the posts on this site regularly pretty much since it started, and hourglass before it.
I still think it might be the truth - what is wrong with me?
Isn't the original question self-explanatory?
Very well put Pole.
He still thinks it's might be the truth folks That's what's wrong with him
Why is he still here? Now that is the question I would like answered...

I don't know - but that doesn't mean it was a conspiracy. There is no proof.
You speak in such circular logic.
Apostates are merely people who have rejected a certain religion, etc. You put far too much meaning and emphasis on one word. There are tens of thousands of people who have rejected that religion and they do not all think and feel the same way. Get a life and go back to your religion if you do not want to be an apostate

Well put purplesofa!

If joining the UN helped the preaching work then it was justified. No Witness would help the preaching work by joining the YMCA.
Ask any elder whether or not breaking God's laws is justified. Better yet, look into your Bible to see whether or not breaking God's laws was ever justified. Jesus did not break God's laws and he did not require membership to worldly organizations to "help the preaching work".
Granted, it's the WTBTS who says the UN is the Wild Beast in the first place; not the Bible. So they didn't break God's laws they actually broke their own. How fickle is that - LOL!
Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no does not apply to the WTBTS if it's justified I guess.

The UN thing - so what if the Witnesses joined the UN, what's the big deal?
"The witnesses" did not join the UN the WTBTS did (unbenounced to "the witnesses"). And at the same time the WTBTS obtained a membership to the UN for use of its library they also told "the witnesses" they could not obtain memberships to the YMCA for use of the pool.
Hmmm... Membership to UN (wild beast) vs. membership to YMCA (harlot). Sounds about the same to me.
Double standard; hypocracy? You be the judge...
Should God's organization not stand out as different from the rest? So what if others have made mistakes too? Alrighty, you go with that logic, the JWs are just like all the others. Just wish they admitted that instead of insisting all the others will be destroyed and they wont for some self-righteous reason.

Witnesses never claims that God told them the dates
ROFLOL -- looks like you need to go back and reread CoC.

You go with your bad self slimfatboy. Enjoy your life of JW bliss. Who are we to rain on your parade?
hi, i'm new to these forums so i thought i would share some experiences of when i was a jw.. i was born in 1976 into a staunch jw family.
my grandparents, parents, aunties, uncles, cousins etc etc were all jw's going back to the 1950's.
when i was a child my parents, like a lot of jw parents, didn't let me have worldly friends.
Indispair:
Great post. I can really relate to the following statement:
I can't even go to church anymore as I don't believe the trinityI too have a really hard time considering going to church because everytime I research a religion's beliefs this doctrine is so ingrained in them. I just don't get it. But I do feel I am finally able to establish a relationship with God and I am just taking in all the ideas, opinions, knowledge I can. I can finally read the Bible and not feel bad.
