anyone watch it last night?.
i am really starting to love constantine.
he just gets better and better.. carrie is so consistent, and so good, that i think she is going to win this, but constantine is right up there too.. i also really like anthony fedorov.. i like bo, but think the judges are a little "over the top" about him.
My pick for the winner is Constantine. Love the guy!
My husband is ga ga for Carrie.
They both stunk last night IMHO but hopefully Scott will get the boot tonight (about time!).
My pic for the final three is: Constantine, Carrie & Vonzel
My pic for the bottem three tonight is: Scott, Anthony, Bo
Just throwing things out there - LOL.
six months ago i knew nothing about the watchtowe religion.
i had not read my bible for more than 25 years, and had gradually drifted between atheism and agnosticism, without giving any thought to what those terms meant.
then my lifelong friends started studying with jws.
Jaff: We went to the church below. We attended their 5:00p Saturday evening worship with contemporary music. It was packed with hundreds of people, live music, singing, etc. They also said they have small groups for Bible Study, which everyone was invited to join in on. They have things such as Cub Scouts and choir for the kids. Seems like a place where you can just stop by and blend in or get really involved depending on your level of interest. Not sure what the denomination is...
Night night :)

hello and welcome inbyathread
I don't believe jaffacake is associating himself with a particular group but more with the concept of witnessing for the true God whom he now feels can be addressed with the name Jehovah. He chooses to witness for Christianity, which includes helping Jehovah's Witnesses to understand that they are not in fact Christians worshipping the true God. They are actually worshipping the Governing Body/WTBTS.

You scared me with the title of your post but then I got it once I read the body... Held my breath for a moment though. Interesting concept you have come up with.
I personally think I currently prefer to consider myself a Christian Witness of Yahweh.
I just went to church for the first time in a long time the other day (hadn't gone since 1998 when I started studying with JWs). It was surprisingly great! I was happy to partake of the emblems and sad that I had missed out all those years on being able to worship God freely in my own personal way and at the same time with a group of Christians. It was obvious that everyone there had his/her own personal views when it comes to "truth" and yet they all worshipped in harmony sharing their mutual love and appreciation for God and for Jesus. No doctrines being crammed down their throats, no hatred of the world, no bashing of other religions, no shunned people, there were even plans for a faith share where all the neighboring churches were going to get together for the greater good. There were classrooms for all the different grade levels so the children could associate with eachother and be taught at their own pace and level.
Anyways, I'm babbling... My point was that the pastor kept using God's name, Yahweh, during his sermon. I found it surprising and refreshing. Below is an interesting read regarding the use of Jehovah vs. the use of Yahweh. Let me know what you think of it if it peaks your interest.
Hope I didn't hijack your thread I always enjoy reading your posts and your comments. You have proven yourself a true friend to those in need of spiritual help and you are an intelligent person. I am glad you have had your own interest in Christianity peaked by the whole experience.
yup...here's my new boyfriend.
(hubby doesn't know it yet...heck...the new boyfriend doesn't even know it yet).
don't we make a cute couple?
Truth alert Truth alert Truth alert Truth alert Truth alert Truth alert
Oh yes - the JW version of "the truth". Your postings have "love, patience, long suffering, kindness and mercy" written all over them.
now here's a unique way of expressing a person's idea of going to heaven:
obituary says: "mr. matlock was never concerned about his destination, only about the trip.
jim's concerns were put to rest as he passed very peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Sounds to me like he put his life in God's hands and trusted him to handle the rest. He was less concerned with what would happen after he died than he was with how he lived his life. His concerns were put to rest because he was surrounded by the people he loved when he died. Sounds like a very nice sentiment to me. I, for one, am glad this man died happy.
Funny how you made a bunch of wild assumptions so as to draw people in and use this man's obituary as a chance to witness.
Do you also use the obits to distribute tracts to those who have lost a loved ones in death?
i had to stop crying so i could write this and if you saw me you wouldn't think i would be the type to cry!
i am a 35 year old man from western australia....i should be tough....or so they say.
i have never posted anything before so excuse my fractured writing.
Welcome to the family .
I am sorry you not only had to endure being raised strictly as a JW but also favoritism and abuse at the hands of your father. I can relate to the favoritism and abuse because I had a babysitter from the time I was a baby until I was 6 who just adored my sisters and yet treated me horribly. It was awful and I can't tell you how an adult favoring your siblings and abusing you mentally and physically takes such a toll on your little child psyche. To this day I am not comfortable with leaving my children with a babysitter. They have been in group childcare settings and with family. That is all. I hope you not only heal from the emotional abuse but I also hope that inner child sees how wonderful he is and how smart he is.
I am glad you have found this site and I wish you well on your journey of free thought and healing.
reading this just had me in stitches!
the joys of being a woman
go get your mammies grammed.
JB:
Here is what I found regarding the phenomenon my boss spoke of .
Retractile testicles are very common and it merely means that although your testicles hang normally in your scrotum most of the time, they are pulled up by certain muscles into the groin area in certain circumstances. Swimming, especially in cool water, will almost always cause this, as the natural tendency of the muscles in the skin surrounding the scrotum is to contract in the cold. The cremaster muscle pulls the testicle upwards and in some men into the inguinal canal that lies just above and behind the crease at the top of the leg where it joins with the abdomen. This happens too when you are nervous or anxious as a result of stress hormones, as well as during sporting activities. During physical exertion blood flow is diverted to the exercising muscles and away from the genitalia. Again the testicles are pulled up as a result. During sport, the scrotum contracts to protect the testicles from harm, and in fact, retractile testicles have a protective value in contact sports for this reason. Professional sumo wrestlers in Japan actually massage their testicles into their inguinal canals deliberately so they do not become injured during wrestling. Testicles normally and naturally retract during sex, especially prior to ejaculation.
ok, so here is the situation...... yesterday, i had bought a scratch ticket and i won 20.00 bucks on it...i was heading back to the store to cash it in but, not all of it...i wanted $17.00 in cash and in addition i wanted another ticket..as i was heading out the door, my brother asked to come with me to grab a few things at the store as well...this was not a problem....he got into the van and we headed off to the store...once we arrived to the store, i was still smoking my cigarette so i asked my brother to cash in my ticket for me and grab me another ticket and my $17.00 bucks while i wait in the car.
he said "sure, no problem"...at the same time, he asked me for a loan of $10.00 bucks.
i gave him the money with no questions asked.
Unless you had an agreement ahead of time to split any winnings I am curious as to why he felt he deserved any of the money at all... I might have forgiven him the $10.00 debt but I would not have given him a dime of it.
Sounds pretty narcissistic to me...
