did anyone see that 20/20 episode last week about medical misconceptions?
one of them was that there are some people with higher metabolisms than others, thats why there are some super skinny people and fat people.
the reality was very interesting.
Ohh my Brooke...
I guess I didn't realize that you JUST drank Coffee! Yes, I can see why that would be a problem then!
i know many have quoted ridiculous statements from the assemblies etc., i just wonder what irked you most off of the platform in your own kh.. the one that sticks out in my mind was when we had a guest speaker on a sunday for the public talk.
i don't remember the theme but his main point was the starving people in africa did not need food.
he stated they needed spiritual food and would opt for that over a meal because they realize they could eat in the new order and there was no need to send any donations directly.
This wasn't announced from the platform, but my husband was in an elders meeting once and asked a particular elder where something he said was stated in the Bible. This elder replied, not EVERYTHING is IN the Bible... shortly after, that was it for my husband attending meetings.
At a differnt time we heard an elder say you can't understand the Bible without the Watchtower and other publications from the organization.

Brooke...what is so wrong with Coffee? Just get your drinks with skim milk instead of whole....ohhh and skip the whip cream!
I read in my womens health magazine caffeine can actually increase your metabolism!!
well ive just registered with the site and not sure what to make of it.
i feel i shouldn't be here.... anyway i'm just a normal 17 year old lad from the uk who is a bit confused at the minute.
i want nothing more than to go out and enjoy myself with my mates in the world but it proves difficult.
Hello and a BIG WELCOME!!
Glad that you have decided to say Hi. Please stick around for awhile. Sit back and read some of our stories and you'll learn a lot about who we are and what we believe.
There is a variety of people with differnt view points and backgrounds regarding the religion. Even though many disagree about certian things, we respect each other....that's the great part and something much different than what you'll find at the kingdom hall.
Don't feel guilty for being here....you'll meet many TRUE friends in no time!
EDITED TO ADD: May I ask what you are confused about? There are so many insightful members on this board that I know would love to help.
it's been 8 years since i had to go to a meeting so i've forgotten alot of what i did myself, but add to the list what you did if you were a child made to sit still and in silence through the meetings and assemblies.. .
i went on amazing journeys with the power of my imagination!.
*recite entire music albums in my head.
Ohhh my...many of you were very creative!
I would usually just write notes back and forth between friends that were sitting by me.....
Towards the end, I had back problems (no really I DID) and would get up and stand in the back of the hall to stretch & chat with other "sisters". It was an easy way to "people watch" too!
Or I'd pretend to be helping a mother with her child and go to the bathroom. We'd just talk the whole time or play with the baby.....
it really makes me angry when they say i love jehovah.
they don't know what they are talking about.
if they read with an open mind the carry-ons of this cruel mesopotanian god they would feel ridiculous and embarrassed for putting this god before their family, their children.
"it's up to your conscience" ( the hell it's not!!! They TELL you what your conscience is)
"Leave it in Jehovahs hands" then why do they DF their members? God can handel it in his due time......right?
well, it's cold in alaska.. i'm on a billion dollar boat with a dial up internet connection, and a, well, boat load of asians.. god, those people photograph everything.
i took my shoes off in the gym, and i had like sixteen little asian girls looking at them.
oh, the stories i could tell..... the funniest thing is watching my grandfather communicate with the foreign staff.
Richie....
Be sure to post pictures when you return home!
Glad to hear your enjoying yourself.... have no fear, I know you can take care of yourself with the JW vacationers
my now husband went through the questions for babtism but was turned down because his hair was too long and he sported a mustache.
(lucky for him!).
tell your story!.
Yes... my husband got his "privileges" removed ( couldn't handel mic's or read) because he had started growing a small goatee.
He was also counseled for having subtle blonde highlights.....
situation ugly.
long story short - adult children have refused contact with df'd father for a few years.
(except for the initial obligatory hate letter full of references to satan and some disgusting name calling).
All I can do is just shake my head.....
I hope some day these little brats come to realization what they have missed out on. There is no excuse to treat a parent in such a way!!
I agree with Finally Free:
The cult may tell them to shun, but they are adults with their own brain, and as such they are responsible to accept the consequenses of their choice to obey the cult.
They aren't worth your trouble....
I'm sorry!
