Map of where we all are.
by wanderlustguy inhttp://www.frappr.com/xjws .
don't know if this is done already, but here is a pretty neat way for us all to map out where we are so if anyone is travelling, they know who is in the area...if anyone thinks this is a good idea, feel free to click and update!
edited to add...it has chat, too.

Has being a Jehova's witness totally shattered your faith?
by Silvia Plath injust because the watchtower society is wrong doesn't mean that there is no god, nor does it mean there is a god.
it would interesting to now how former members have adjusted thier cosmology, or whether they are now atheists and why.
i personally see religion as a more personal matter, rather than belonging to an organization.

Good questions:
I was so very confused a few months ago. Leaving this religion really can mess you up. You have to retrain your thinking in so many ways.
Not until recently did I finally realize that a lot of things regarding the Bible and God don't really matter. No one has the answers. It's hard to admitt that, when this religion taught you not to question anything they brainwashed you with!
I still believe in God, I still strive to be a good person. Basically after that, I'm not sure....and that's okay. We all will find out eventually.

How I would cry in the car when my husband I would arrive at the Kingdom Hall parking lot. The last year of attending meetings, I hated, Hate, HATED it! We could never do enough....I swear every month we would get yanked in the "back room" and counseled about what we were doing wrong. I will never forget leaving that back room to a kingdom hall of elders familys who would just repulsively smile at you! How embarassing! Not fun for a young married couple to go through.

BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS Twisting a life-affirming law into death
by Terry inturning a life affirming rule into a death-dealing policy is an amazing accomplishment.
we can thank the watchtower society for a mindset which makes this possible.. i've gone into great detail before about the watchtower blood policy itself.
it is a blatant and deliberate publicity stunt which takes the rather simple prohibitions of the laws of noah for gentiles on murder .

FLUFF WARNING......Dog owners/anyone watch the Dog Whisperer?
by restrangled ini am notoriously run over by dogs.
but after watching the dog whisperer i have been preparing for my new adoption with hopes of being more in control.. low and behold i'm cleaning my garage today and a neighbor strolled by with a huge dog.
i waved and came into the street to see her new "monster" size dog.

Yes, Mr Schne and I do enjoy watching the show too.
I think it's great.... he "saves" these trouble dogs from being given up or euthanized for their problem behaviors. I do believe in most cases it IS the owner/human that can cause the problem. We have learned a lot regarding how to train our own dog. Still have a ways to go to get him to stop barking at everyone that comes to the door or walks down the street, but he's getting better.

Welcome Sam...
I read your profile and it's great to hear that you have your family and some friends behind you in exiting the cult. That certianly makes it easier...... it'll only be a matter of time until you meet other friends. Just be patient!

If you had a chance, what would you have done differrently (JW experience)?
by Steve Lowry inya know whatamean?
if you could go back in time, back to those days as a jw and react then as you would now knowing what you now know, what would you do differently?
it could be a particular day, or an event or something you went through.

I too would have stood up for myself more...
I wouldn't have let "sister pioneer" make me feel that she was superior to me since that wan't my goal....
I wouldn't have let "Mr. Elder" make the years leading up to my marrige to my husband a living hell, just because I wasn't "past the bloom of youth".I would have spent my time finding TRUE friends instead of those that turn their back to you on a dime.
No doubt, there are so many things I and others would have changed. You can get depressed thinking about it..... and unfortunatly we can't go back in time..... My life is great now and I'm happy. That's what matters....

OMG Spray Tan Disaster !!!!
by Sirona innow i wasn't going to share this, but i just have to!
i can't tan (had melanoma skin cancer) so i decided that for the long-awaited bbq on saturday i'd treat myself to a "spray-tan".
for those of you who don't know, its false tanning where you are sprayed with the tanning all over and it lasts about a week.. what a disaster!.

schne_belly
I feel for you!!! I'm a pale skinned, freckled, only burns...girl myself! However sunless tanning options are better than the bad effects the sun can have on you, as you know first hand.
I've tried all sorts of sunless tanners, even the spray booths like you used. I have found that "fakebake"( fakebake.com) is the best EVER! No streaking...it's got a color guard so you can see where you apply it AND if you DO get it on clothes or sheets, it washes off in the laundry.
