  i was raised a jw, third generation.

  grampa was a congregation servant and then elder, my dad was an elder for years.

  i made it up the ranks fast, you were not anybody if you did not become an elder, i was appointed at an early age.

  Labor Day Weekend.....Plans?

  i am not a fan of labor day weekend.. it just feels like summer and the warm temps are going to fade...although it will be nice for a-while.. and i don't like getting older.. i am glad family invited us to play cards and hav-a cook-out,...ya yes steaks on the grill.. anything special going on with any of you?

  MUMSY!!!!! Please keep me posted when Tree of Woe is playing in the area. I would have loved to come see them, but have made plans already for tonight!!!! have fun!!!!

  We are going shopping tomorrow morning. Then my hubby is having a high school reunion, in the eveing we are hitting fair here in town. Sunday and Monday we hope to go boating/fishing. Then a cook out at my in laws Monday evening.

  I don't look forward to Labor Day weekend...it does seem like summer is officially over ! However we'll make the most of it!

  Have a safe weekend everyone....especailly those traveling!

  Donate for worldwide work- did you ask ?

  it was much easier for me when we used to charge for literature than ask the householder if they wanted to contribute to the worldwide work.i was too embarassed.

  that's why i just gave the literature away and not put them on the spot.. the witnesses that did ask the householder to contribute would usually never get a donation.. what was your experience?

  No, I didn't ask.....the main reason was because I rarely went door to door. LOL!

  I would go " out in service" but didn't really have my own calls or bothered to find any. I was just along for the ride.

  There appears to be a lot of bitterness on here and I don't want that.

  Non of us WANT bitterness. However many of the things all of us have experienced while being involved with this religion, makes us bitter. It's the early stage of the healing process. We are all at different points in this process, but we eventually move on, and that is what this board is here to help with.

  I too love God and Jesus. You will meet many with different attitudes regarding this, but all in all we respect each other, even if their beliefs differ from ours.

  Hummm....good question, one that I hope I am never confronted with.

  I guess for a wedding....no. Thank goodness my only relatives that are stilI IN are already married and I was able to share that special day with them.

  For a funeral. I would only bother if it was a relative. I would hope something more would be held after or before at a funeral home so I could pay my last respects there instead of having to do so at the KH. It would make the situation that much harder if bombarded with witnoids.
