The Price of Children

we have repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, (negative side mostly) but this is the first time the rewards are listed this way.

i was thinking about how one of the cult tactics come into play in such a simple action, like commenting at the meetings.

don't know if it was the same everywhere, but at our hall, sometimes the wt study conductor would call on a couple of people in sequence, the first would give thier comment, then brother "i get to carry the microphone" would run over to the other, just for them to say "he, she had my thought".

just that statement "they had my thought" says so much now.

Anyone ever go on one of those bus trips to bethel?

back in the late eighties while still in high school instead of doing something fun for spring break i got an all expense paid trip to bethel.

on a bus no less with about 75 other jws headed to the promised land.

somewhere i still have a photo album filled with snapshots of the printing presses and all of the "cadets" happily churning out literature -- and of course all of the female cadets happily scrubbing toilets and doing laundry.

Yes, my best friend and I went during the summer of 99'. We were 16 at the time. It was great fun....mainly becasue we were together and were able to go shopping and explore the Big Apple

I remember almost everyday many zealous ones on the bus would break out in song singing Kingdom Melodys. My friend and I just plugged into our "walk-mans" and blarred it to drown them out. HA!

Negative JW's

it's funny to me to notice, for the most part jw's are such negative people.

when i speak with my dad or brother who are staunch jw's the glass is always half empty.

everything is depressing.

Negative? Sure, you're always told how you need to improve. Put in more service time, have more Bible studies, Answer more questions, improve on personal study...etc. You were never good enough...especailly if you were your own person and didn't allow them to fully control you. That attitude has still somewhat stuck with me. I'm always putting myself down, even when I should just be satisfied.

i remember scanning real money and with photoshop pasting the picture of an elder on the bill over the face of the queen.

then i printed many bills.

it looked very real.

whyamihere is back home from her LONG surgery!

just wanted to let everyone know that brookie is home recuperating from her surgery on monday.

it was over 6 hours long and now she has stiches and staples in both legs...as they had to take a vein from her good leg to repair the aneurism...so she is cut up pretty bad.

stop by and wish her well...poor baby.
