Hate to say it knowing what I know now...
but yes, I'm quite sure I would still be if I had not been kicked out...
.
would you still be a jw if you had not been disfellowshipped?

Not at funerals, but also in cemetaries, yes, we would sometimes approach people. I remember some Witnesses being horrified by the idea, but I think it was promoted by one of our CO's at one point...

i know many have quoted ridiculous statements from the assemblies etc., i just wonder what irked you most off of the platform in your own kh.. the one that sticks out in my mind was when we had a guest speaker on a sunday for the public talk.
i don't remember the theme but his main point was the starving people in africa did not need food.
he stated they needed spiritual food and would opt for that over a meal because they realize they could eat in the new order and there was no need to send any donations directly.
A circuit overseer giving a talk at a circuit assembly:
"And remember brothers, back in my day, we didn't call them gays, we called them faggots!"
on thursday i got back from germany, after having spent a week...was only planning to attend 2 world cup games, but ended up getting to 5 (bought some tickets outside the stadiums!
)...its a very cool country, lots of history, travelled to hamburg, frankfurt, cologne, nuremburg, berlin and leipzig...of course the atmosphere is amazing right now with the world cup, fans from all over the world.... the only drawback was passing a kingdom hall in hamburg...something like "jehovah zugen"...lol...but i bought a big canadian flag and wore it around, even though canada is not in the world cup!
it was nice to be able to do that, something i could never have done before as a jw...also got a bit drunk one night, that was fun too...its not always easy to have lost family, but its amazing to have the freedom to do things i never could before.... nice to be back and reading everyone's posts again..
Greendawn,
That would have been great! But I probably wouldn't have had a job when I got back! I did meet some students and different people who are staying for the whole thing...

I was at Ecuador-Costa Rica, Czech-Ghana (I think that was the best one I was at), Ukraine-Saudi Arabia, Ecuador-Germany and Iran-Angola. The atmosphere inside the stadiums is amazing. Some of the other games I watched at the fan fests or at nice little cafes and bars with fans. Of course I missed a few games to walk around the cities I was in...had to see a bit of Germany too!

Its a bit of a long shot, but about 17 years ago, when I was around 11, I travelled with my father to England. We attended a district convention in Jersey, Channel Islands. Met some Witnesses there, but can't remember most names. However, I do remember the names of a couple of young people around my age at the time. I met a guy named Daniel Garido, Spanish background I believe, living with his parents in Jersey. We kept in touch through letters for a year or so, then lost touch. Also met a couple of girls close to my age named Samatha Day and Leanne Darton. I actually kind of had a crush on Leanne, she was pretty cute and interesting. I got her address but somehow we never made contact after. Anyhow, if any of you over there know anything about these three, I'd love to hear something about them...thanks!

inspired by one of the other threas on todays board i was remindedof what the po of my 'then' cong' said just befors i left for good.. can't remember what the subject was but he ended up quite proudly announcing.....'if jehovah asked me to.....i would have no trouble killing someone, i would find it easy'!!
stunned silence.......this man is now a circuit overseer!
the phrase 'crazed extremist' comes to mind.. what was the most unbelievable, outrageous thing that was uttered in your earshot.
A C.O. said at a circuit assembly...

did anyone ever actually admit it if they hated it?.

Yes, I did enjoy it, not so much in rural areas though. Too much driving around in the car.
I liked it in downtown Toronto, meeting people from all over the world, learning about different cultures, practicing my Chinese, doing street witnessing early in the morning with good friends, learning to deal with all types of people and adapt to them. Didn't like it so much in the cold of winter though. lol
