Hi Thaisun (and welcome sosad),
I will send you a PM. My mother (who has not spoken to me in over 2 years) went to Gilead in 1969/70, and served in Peru for about 4 years before coming back to Canada. Perhaps you knew her.

Not at funerals, but also in cemetaries, yes, we would sometimes approach people. I remember some Witnesses being horrified by the idea, but I think it was promoted by one of our CO's at one point...

What is the most objectionable thing you have heard off the platform?
by restrangled ini know many have quoted ridiculous statements from the assemblies etc., i just wonder what irked you most off of the platform in your own kh.. the one that sticks out in my mind was when we had a guest speaker on a sunday for the public talk.
i don't remember the theme but his main point was the starving people in africa did not need food.
he stated they needed spiritual food and would opt for that over a meal because they realize they could eat in the new order and there was no need to send any donations directly.

Back from Germany...
by Toronto_Guy inon thursday i got back from germany, after having spent a week...was only planning to attend 2 world cup games, but ended up getting to 5 (bought some tickets outside the stadiums!
)...its a very cool country, lots of history, travelled to hamburg, frankfurt, cologne, nuremburg, berlin and leipzig...of course the atmosphere is amazing right now with the world cup, fans from all over the world.... the only drawback was passing a kingdom hall in hamburg...something like "jehovah zugen"...lol...but i bought a big canadian flag and wore it around, even though canada is not in the world cup!
it was nice to be able to do that, something i could never have done before as a jw...also got a bit drunk one night, that was fun too...its not always easy to have lost family, but its amazing to have the freedom to do things i never could before.... nice to be back and reading everyone's posts again..

I was at Ecuador-Costa Rica, Czech-Ghana (I think that was the best one I was at), Ukraine-Saudi Arabia, Ecuador-Germany and Iran-Angola. The atmosphere inside the stadiums is amazing. Some of the other games I watched at the fan fests or at nice little cafes and bars with fans. Of course I missed a few games to walk around the cities I was in...had to see a bit of Germany too!

Met some Witnesses there, but can't remember most names. However, I do remember the names of a couple of young people around my age at the time. I met a guy named Daniel Garido, Spanish background I believe, living with his parents in Jersey. We kept in touch through letters for a year or so, then lost touch. Also met a couple of girls close to my age named Samatha Day and Leanne Darton. I actually kind of had a crush on Leanne, she was pretty cute and interesting. I got her address but somehow we never made contact after. Anyhow, if any of you over there know anything about these three, I'd love to hear something about them...thanks!
