I think you were way ahead of your time on this one. Now everyone eats food they brought from the outside. Another example of the shifting standards of the organization. We probaly wood have gotten dirty looks if we had said that all the info about 1975 was nonsense also. seek2find
to be a "good jehovah's witness" you must be able to live by double standards.
you have to know how to play both sides to the middle.
you have to speak and act one way with certain persons and another way with the others.. one example of how witnesses live by double standards:you cannot join the ymca because jws can't involve themselves with religious matters or else be shunned.
Freedom of speech is fought for all the way to the supreme court, but not allowed in the congregation (I.E. expressing doubts, ECT.) Ray comments on this in the 1st chapter of COC seek2find

I think that may have been the 1st year for "Drama's" One that stands out in my mind was called "Let no man look down on your youth" Many there were shocked by some of the content of the drama. Kinda brazen even by worldly standards for 1969. In the deep south especially. seek2find

there is an old-fashioned definition of the word "confession" which is the public expression of one's deepest faith and belief.. take a deep breath and give a one or two paragraph summary of your deepest belief.. i'll go first.. from the time i was a small child i had a deep and abiding reverence for god as a father.

Mouthy, I enjoyed reading your post on this subject. I have to agree that Jesus is the answer. I don't know how to get people like our friend Terry here to see that. I would like to Just say Terry, if you never have before, ask Jesus to come into your life and your heart and to help you to make him your Lord and Savior. I have a friend that says that "God does not reveal himself to the casual observer" I beleive that. So we have to go from being a casual observer to an active participant. One good way is to spend regular time in prayer and Bible reading, use several translations. Seek the real "Truth" and he will let himself be found. he is giving the talk...yikes!.
The message sounded to me Like "Come to the Organization for salvation". I prefer the more scriptual message come to Jesus Christ for salvation (John 14:6) Also it seemed that the talk contained more quotes from Watchtower publications than from scripture. I agree with what another poster said, not much "special" about it. seek2find
how many of you remember how special the meetings were when we found out they were going to show slides instead of a public talk.
when i was a kid i remember how excited i was..........i still remember some of the slides.
an old one from the 70's where a blind girl keeps asking her dad when she will be able to see this and that and the father would say " in the new system my dear".

I have definitely seen a change. No get-togethers unless someone dies or gets married. Every trip to the KH seems like going to a penal institution everyone "preforming" as expected. No original anything, just all a big preformance. I don't know the exact numbers but many are on anti-depressants and are in bad marriages . Everyone seems to just be holding on waiting for something but nothing ever comes. Sad, I pray for the day it will all end, if not for the rest maybe just for me. Not the end of life, just the end of the preformance. Family is the reason I stay. seek2find
