I forgot to mention, Ray Franz has a audio recording on his web site that you can purchase as an mp3 download that is of his uncle Fred giving a talk where he pretty much says that there wasn't a governing body in the 1st century. seek2find

First century governing body?
by lostsheep82 inmy anointed step dad always mentions about how the first century christians had a governing body also.
where in the bible does it actually say that?
to me governing body is just a dictatorship of men who think they are right and can control, no different than the governments....governing body set rules, and ultimately decide your future as far as i'm concerned.

It's kinda like the Gods organization concept. It's mostly imagined by them. For instance they say that God has always worked through an organization and point to Noahs ark as an example. But the ark was just a method God used to preserve those few whom he chose, it didn't represent any kind of organization, (unless a person wants it to). Organizations aren't necessarily bad things, but when a person is presuaded to depend on them for salvation, that's when you have to draw the line. Jesus said he was "the way the truth and the life". As far as the Governing body goes, if one had existed in the 1st century and it was entirely important that they dictate every move of the diciples, then why didn't the apostle Paul consult with them right away upon his conversion? Yes the audio versions are available in both public and study editions. I also wish they were available in pdfs, but don't know of any source where they are avaiable on a regular basis. seek2find

The generation thing that was changed in 1995 was even more important than 1975. The reason is that for many years every issue of Awake had a statement in the masthead that said that it was the Creators promise to bring about the new world before the Generation of 1914 passed away. The statements in print about 1975 were not as frequent and some of them kind of vague. The thing I remember about 1975 was all the talk that was going on about it. Even though the printed info was limited. There's no doubt in my mind that if someone would have stood up in 1970 and said. "I think the Society is wrong about 1975 and I don't think we should be expecting armageddon at that time." he would have been branded an apostate. seek2find

1975 will become the same thing 1925 became. A lot of witnesses didn't even know about the 1925 date predictions untill the procalaimers book came out. It's funny how time seems to have a way of glossing over mistakes. seek2find

JESUS!
by Chalam inin my relationships and dealing with jehovah's witnesses over the past few years i have come to learn one thing, the belief of who jesus is is the centre of the problem.
i was led to these verses after a couple of aging witnesses left my house after much debate, which once again proved fruitless :(.

I've been thinking about this very thing after reading the Watchtower study lesson for this last week from the December study edition article on Integrity. The article seemed to be focusing on what individuals can do to better their position with God. However puting ones faith in Christ was not mentioned. To me puting faith in Christ is the only thing that can put one right with God. I like the following pasage from Isa. 53:6 from the NIV Speaking propheticaly of Christ it says:
"We all, like sheep have gone astray, each one of us has returned to his own way, and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."

Black Sheep, The declaration seems to be continuing on past page 140 which is where the file ends. On page 138 it is continuing with the topic league of nations. If Ive missed something can you please point me to the last sentence? I'm confused. seek2find

Hi, There have been a lot of great PDF files posted on this board that I much apreaciate. Here is a request for another couple. If they've been posted before please point me in the right direction. First is for the complete scan of the 1934 yearbook that contains the "Declaration of the facts" preferbly with no underlining or marking. I need the complete thing not just a partial like so many of the ones floating around the net. The second request is for scans of the original publications that are quoted out of context in the brochure "Should you beleive the trinity" (just the part that's misquoted) I know I'm asking for a lot. But I think a lot of people other than me would benefit also. Thanks in advance, seek2find
