This apostate (ME) would like this question answered. Listen up people at Bethel if you are listening. Why, if the name Jehovah is so important did the apostle Paul not use it even one time in his letter to the Phillipians as printed in the NWT? If an elder or some good witness today wrote a spititualy encouraging letter even a 3rd the length of Phillipians and didn't use the name Jehovah at least once, he would be viewed as wierd at least, and maybe even apostate. In all, seven of the Apostalic letters in the NWT do not contain the name Jehovah. Why? And also as mentioned, why did Jesus never use the name in any of his prayers including the model prayer? seek2find

The name Jehovah and the April Study edition of the Watchtower
by seek2find inin the 1st study article of the april watchtower, a statement is made about some apostates opposing the use of the name jehovah.
i would like to seriously ask this question to lurkers and active witnesses.
why is it that in the new world translation the name jehovah apears in the greek scriptures (aka new testament) only 237 times and yet in the watchtower magazine between the years of 2000 to 2006 the name jehovah appears an average of about 3000 times per year?

Are apostates really opposed to using the name or is the Organization obsessed with it? And the more important question is, is the organization more focused on the Old testament God and his name than on Jesus Christ which is where Christians should be putting their focus? Paul said at Phil. 2:9 that Jesus had been given the "name above every name" So why is it that in the same years of 2000 to 2006 we only find the name of Jesus used in the watchtower about 1500 times per year on average? seek2find

First century governing body?
by lostsheep82 inmy anointed step dad always mentions about how the first century christians had a governing body also.
where in the bible does it actually say that?
to me governing body is just a dictatorship of men who think they are right and can control, no different than the governments....governing body set rules, and ultimately decide your future as far as i'm concerned.

I forgot to mention, Ray Franz has a audio recording on his web site that you can purchase as an mp3 download that is of his uncle Fred giving a talk where he pretty much says that there wasn't a governing body in the 1st century. seek2find

It's kinda like the Gods organization concept. It's mostly imagined by them. For instance they say that God has always worked through an organization and point to Noahs ark as an example. But the ark was just a method God used to preserve those few whom he chose, it didn't represent any kind of organization, (unless a person wants it to). Organizations aren't necessarily bad things, but when a person is presuaded to depend on them for salvation, that's when you have to draw the line. Jesus said he was "the way the truth and the life". As far as the Governing body goes, if one had existed in the 1st century and it was entirely important that they dictate every move of the diciples, then why didn't the apostle Paul consult with them right away upon his conversion? (see Gal. 1:16,17) seek2find

The generation thing that was changed in 1995 was even more important than 1975. The reason is that for many years every issue of Awake had a statement in the masthead that said that it was the Creators promise to bring about the new world before the Generation of 1914 passed away. The statements in print about 1975 were not as frequent and some of them kind of vague. The thing I remember about 1975 was all the talk that was going on about it. Even though the printed info was limited. There's no doubt in my mind that if someone would have stood up in 1970 and said. "I think the Society is wrong about 1975 and I don't think we should be expecting armageddon at that time." he would have been branded an apostate. seek2find

1975 will become the same thing 1925 became. A lot of witnesses didn't even know about the 1925 date predictions untill the procalaimers book came out. It's funny how time seems to have a way of glossing over mistakes. seek2find
