I had high cholesterol approx. a year ago. I was able to lower it with the assistance of a nutritionist. Dietary changes are effective. Fortunately, I did not have to take any of those harmful cholesterol lowering medications. Much of what Snoozy said and the suggestions you were given, in terms of food, & drinking water is what I incorporated.

I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I hope and pray you will get better soon. Allergies run in my family. Have you seen an allergists yet? They can test you to find the things you are specifically allergic to . Therefore the medications can be specifically applied. My allergist did say to start preparing your body ahead for the spring pollen by taking meds March 1st.You can also prepare for the fall around August 15th. My son has been on this regimen from last fall. At the height of the season he takes Allegra 180 ( the lower dosage was not doing it for him), Patanol (eye drops), and Nasonex (nose spray). After a few weeks he can make it on the Allegra 180 alone until now. He is back to the original plan because we are walking into the next pollen season - spring.
His body tends to get used to the meds so that by the start of next fall this regimen will no longer be effective for him. He will probably start taking allergy shots again in the fall. (they stopped because we had to change our doctor due to a change over to another insurance plan)
I also suffered when I was in my teens through early adulthood from pollen, dust, and animal dander. I was reactive to some foods, as well. The funny thing is they never bothered me when I was pregnant. Now that I am in my middle years as an adult , the pollen is affecting me but not as severely. I take prescription Claritan, Nasonex, and I may need something for my eyes occasionally.
Overall, were are doing quite well. I was recently told that if you stop ingesting all forms of dairy products many allergies would be eliminated.
I can no longer drink milk. I have tried soy milk which I like. And I will try rice milk. Lately, I have been using lactaid milk. It is not bad, however I am getting a rash on my hand that was not there before. My son refuses to stop drinking milk.

Those words are definitely what we should all bear in mind daily. Not as a replacement for the Bible, but used in conjunction with biblical study. Have you (in general as a group of ex-JW, fading, etc) been so burned by your religious experience that you would "throw out the baby with the bath water".
The baby you seem to want eliminated is far too precious. The Bible is in no way obselete. The teachings in that book were/are applicable yesterday, today, tomorrow, and forever. You must always read it for yourself', way beyond what some group or organization is directing you to do.
It's like a personal exploratory experience or journey with The Living Word (Jesus, The Father, and the Holy Spirit) It was written for us and to us (human beings) as a guide with rules for living on this planet and getting to the next level of existence when we finish or accomplish our assigned goals/tasks.
Learn from the history of our people (humans) and our relationship with God our Father from Adam & Eve on down to you. What's your story? Are you stuck in a chapter or on a particular page. It may be time to move on or step by faith into the unknown realm of what's next? You will never know the awesome possibilities if you don't.
There are usually both positive and negative aspects of most of our circumstances (tests & trials) in life. Take the positive with you and utilize it as you elevate to the next level. You are developing a relationship with God The Father and building your character as well to be more like Him in each and every situation. (Don't most children who come from loving families want to be like thier parents?- Don't we as loving caring parents want our children to take on the best aspects of ourselves?)
Be able to honestly sift through and examine that circumstance or experience to discern the +'s and -'s. The negative stuff you were exposed to or experienced, any negative reactions that you may have had or displayed as a result of that are the things you want to eliminate.
Study up on the situation, by reading the bible, seeking the counsel of other spiritually in tuned beings, positioning yourself to receive wisdom from other sources who are true believer's. Always discerning any information through that quiet inner voice.
If you didn't pass the test The Creator always prepares you for, He will be sure to prepare you again. Be receptive to that preparation so you can pass the next time with flying colors. Then get ready for the next new series or battery of tests. It could very well be another area in which God has been dealing with you.
Remember He does not give us anything we can't bear or handle. He always provides a support system. It could be family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. Sometimes, He will get you all by yourself. That's the time He want's to personally commune with you one to one. Stand still and know I AM GOD.
Does it seem like you are isolated from everyone? When you want to talk over an issue with others, you just can't seem to get through to them? Have you been out of work for some reason? Illness, fired, laid-off ? Don't know what to do with yourself? How do you fill your day? Do you give God any time? Does He even come first in your life?
Try Jehovah, Jah, I AM, Jesus. Purpose yourself to establish a relationship with God. As you run this race course called life. Apply the rules of conduct and life lessons from biblical history. Continue to bear in mind the words originally posted on this thread. I believe we will all make it through just as Our Heavenly Father, through the love of Christ Jesus & the assistance of the guidance of the Holy Spirit, intended.

Single-parent children
by Nosferatu in.
with the upcoming baby in the picture, i'd like to get a bit of information.. would you say that 50% or more of the kids in elementary school only live with one parent?

I don't know actual statistics. However, as a former teacher and a current volunteer in an early childhood program, a large percentage of children are in single-parent households. Why do you ask? It is possible to raise children in this environment to become healthy, well-adjusted, positve contributing members to society. That involves the single parent utilizing a multitude of resources available from family, friends, neighbors, and community. It takes a village to raise a child.

Hi!I've never been one and don't ever intend to be one. However, I am married to one who is an ex-jW. He struggles daily with issues of leaving the organization and its indoctrinations. He also has difficulty adapting to any other religious group, at this juncture.
It has been a challenging experience to have a family and be of two, somewhat, distinctively different faiths. We are both, Christians, believers in and followers of Jesus and His teachings. But our approaches, in terms of application and framework, within our religions are unlike in many areas.
He has attended several church sermons on Sundays. In addition, he has participated in a few functions, meetings, and events held by various ministries within the church. He seems to enjoy himself, for the most part, and comes away with a little different understanding each time. I'm sure it will take a while for him to adjust and feel comfortable walking in new and strangely unique territory. However, hopefully and prayerfully over time what was once unfamiliar becomes familiar.

Coretta Scott King was a phenomenal women who deserves to be honored and recognized for raising her young children to become seemingly well-adjusted adults who are contributing positively to society and for continuing to perpetuate her husband's legacy.

YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE
R. Rodgers and O. Hammerstein II
When you walk through the storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark
Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone -

And where does pure love come from? Who is in control of all things? Who gave her to you? Do you not think He did not know what you would need and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay in advance made a provision for you.
I can remember way back in my early depressive periods, the one who could make me smile was my precious young son. Believe me God knows exactly what we need. He may not come when we want or the way we expect. However, He is always on time and His provision is usually far above what we could/would ever ask for or think.
God is love and the unselfish expression of it is a reflection of His spirit, His character, & His nature.
You are truly rich & blessed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
