Well of course there is classism in America. Is has always been there, but with the middle class dwindling.. .and that was the only thing that really set us apart from other nations; Now we are with the two distinct classes 'the haves' and 'the have nots'. This has become a bigger deal than the other 'isms' ie, racism...etc. This is very apparent as a midwestern transplant in the Los Angeles area. We do have opportunity to rise financially but the cost of the struggle is sometimes more than we are willing to pay. I chose to pace myself as I work raise a family and get a better education. I consider myself a 'have not' for now. The difference is though that I believe in speaking up, giving and paying my dues. Though tommorrow is not promised me, I believe my course of action benefits everyone around me, right now...I have everything but the money!

Classism in America?
by under74 ini recently had an experience at school where i felt like the one odd poor class in the room.
the conversation started with homelessness and then gravitated to poor people in general.
there were a lot of weird and false assumptions laid out like "those people walk hunched over" and " they" .....well you get the picture.

Do you think of yourself as an apostate
by barbar inmany of the people on this site say that they are apostates.
but that is not the way i feel about myself.. i am not angry with the "witnesses" or the organisation, i don't feel that i wasted my life.
i just think that i was stupid to believe it for 30 years (well sort of believe it, i did have severe doubts on and off).

I did at first, I was projesting the feelings of my family and friends who think the organization equals God. As I grew my own spiritual legs and took off my 'Brooklyn' colored lenses when reading the Bible I found that I was extraordinarily normal reasonable and sensable. That was something that I did not know before. And it just gets better. The moral of the story; Seek God, a personal relationship through prayer. Not a religion to subscribe to.
