i dont know how many of you attended a spanish speaking hall like i did but in my experience and from reading people's posts i think that there are some pretty big differences.
1. spanish congs are more liberal .
everyone hugs and kissing sisters on the cheek is the norm, it wasnt that way with a lot of english congs. that i saw.
i'll give an example of what i mean, at weddings that i went to the music was rarely if ever questioned. salsa is a much more sensual form of dancing than the electric slide, which seemed to be the staple of english-speaking weddings.

2. english halls are more 'stuffy' and classist
3. race tends to matter a lot more in english halls
4. people just seem happier at spanish halls

I would like to think that you are right but i think that many people have adopted the mentality, 'hey i've waited this long, might as well ride it out.'
the thing is the society for all their ineptness has done a good job of changing things w/o people noticing or convinced them that they themselves are to blame, they are always quick to point out 'no one knows the day or time' when it suits them.
would the internet have been banned ouright from the beginning?
it seems like they have been trying to reign in control of jw's use of the internet for the last few years but pandora's box has already been opened.
if they had just banned it from the beginning many dubs would have been afraid that if they went on the ineternet they would immediately be possesed by demons.

i was around in 1995, barely, but i dont remember any talks or articles where the new light about the generation of 1914. did they change w/o coming right out and saying so,or was there a talk.
especially in regards to the mission statement or whatever in the awake, did they make an announcement or did they just hope no one would notice?
i just cant believe that there wasnt a mass exodus after that, my family never mentioned the change to me, i didnt even know til years later on this site.
my dad is in the same boat, he is close to retirement and not only does he not have a cent in a retirement acct but is swimming in debt, and he shouldnt be, he is a college educated professional. you'd think my sister would have learned from his mistake but no, her company offers to match retirement contributions and she still doesnt want to contribute, she blows it off like its a waste of money. huh?

maybe they will look to 2012, according to the mayans somethign big is supposed to happen that year, and so far their calendar ahsnt been wrong, i'm sure i can find a link but i'm supposed to be studying for a test.
i went to the kingdom hall for the very last time.
i went in the door in my guns n roses t-shirt and ripped up lucky jeans, new earrings and goatee.
i went up to the po of the congregation and told him i needed to talk to him.
my knees would have been shaking turning in a letter like that, impressive.

Even dubs that I know always follow the WT's "suggestions" as law are embracing the internet more than ever, going broadband, etc. Are they afraid of a backlash from banning it at this point? Because I'm sure the argument could be made that no one truly needs it. People can read newspapers, write checks, use snail-mail etc.
