So sorry, jeaniebeanz. I lost cats and still have one. I love them so I understand how you feel when you have to let them go. I just couldn't get over the loss until I got another one three months later. You might want to consider getting another.

Lost our Kitty...
by jeanniebeanz inyou remember about a month ago i had asked you all for ideas on how to deliver johnny cats medication for hyper-thyroid issues (which worked beautifully, thank you!)..
well, it finally happened... we took johnny cat in to the vet because he was having seizures.
it scared the crap out of us when it happened.. when we got there, the vet told us he had lymphoma and it would only get worse rapidly.

I know just how you feel. I have been unemployed since 5-20-05 after 12 years working as a legal secretary. I thought I would be happy to have a vacation and collect unemployment. Not so. I am anxious all the time without the focus of a goal in the morning. Everything seems haphazard. I cannot find anything in the newspaper ads or the internet that is encouraging. I've been sending resumes since May 20th and there hasn't been one response. I wake at 4:00 a.m. and don't know what to do with myself. (Except get on this board, which is a saving grace for me).
Thanks, everyone for your input and suggestions.

Why do you post here?
by seattleniceguy infor me, it's mainly the money and the women, i suppose.. no, but seriously, i was thinking the other day about why i post here.
in september it will be two years since i left the organization.
i don't much care for doctrinal debates anymore, and i usually pass on threads that are concerned with he-said-she-said kind of stuff inside the organization.

There is a song by Van Morrison called "Kingdom Hall". I don't know all the words to it. Blondie does, but here is some of it:
So glad to see you
So glad you're here
Come here beside me now and we'll clear inhibitions away
Chorus
Oh, they were singin' down at the Kingdom Hall
The bells were ringin down at the Kingdom Hall
They went: Hey loddie loddie loddie, hey loddie loddie lo
I'm sure some of the words are wrong but you probably get the idea that nothing like that ever took place at a Kingdom Hall. I have the cd somewhere. When I come across it I'll post the words if you haven't heard it by then.

Another JW alternative
by Justin infor those interested in an alternative to the jws, check out http://www.bibledecoded.com/index.html .
the lws claim to be the successors to the jws!
they have their own chronology, disfellowshipping rules, etc.

Justin, thank you for the thread. It is just too much for me to read right now, but it has to be serious and not tongue in cheek. No on could put that much babble in a serious topic. But, I have a question that I read on there; what is a Boxing Day Tsunami?

Yes Blondie, you are truly helpful. Your posts are always interesting and they sure helped me with information when I first came on this board looking to find freedom. You also know a lot about other subjects. I remember when you posted the words to Kingdom Hall by Van Morrison. I was awestruck. Worldly people knew the song but didn't know its implications. You knew both.
Thanks for everything.

Es, I am so glad you brought this subject up. I am a smoker. I have quit a couple of times for as long as a year at a time but always returned to it. I always felt so bad and guilty because Jehovah didn't like smoking. I remember a lot of literature in the Watchtower and Awake magazines that gave these true life stories of how JW's came into the truth and found out smoking was against Jehovah's laws and they quit. I mean they said they threw away their cigarettes and never smoked again! I always wondered how that could be. No mention of withdrawal, ever. I used to think there was something wrong with me because I suffered such severe withdrawal of cigarettes and envied those who could throw away their cigarettes and never give them another thought. Now, I question whether or not those were true stories in the magazines.
I remember an incident that I laugh out loud at now but at the time I was horrified at what I had done. I was disfellowshipped and was attending the KH to be reinstated and one night at the ministry meeting I realized when I got home that I had worn a dress which on the back of it was a woman smoking a cigarette. I guess I really let them know my heart condition! No one said anything. (They didn't talk to me anyway of course). I still laugh about it now. If I still had the dress I would wear it deliberately to the KH if I had any desire to see any of them.

Twin Towers\ Armageddon

Mary, you are too funny! I have been laughing ever since I read your thread. But to answer the question above, yes, I was terrified it was Armageddon. I was always afraid, sad and guilty when I thought of Armageddon. Not happy as most JW's are because the New System is coming. I always thought of the losses. I just knew I was going down; me and my family (because I didn't bring them into the truth). Thankfully, we are still here and I also did research through Free Minds and it set me free. This board keeps me free and sane.
