It's been almost a month since I was let go by my employer of 10 1/2 years...I've been searching the want ads, signing up with temporary agencies and today I stayed and did nothing but clean house. I got our file cabinet organized, for the first time in 7 years I have an actual filing system at home...then I realized how lucky I am. I have a roof over my head, a man who loves me...then why am I having a pity party? I have my health...and now I am just pissed...not having a job, fighting for unemployment...I hope I find something soon!
Ok this being at home thing is starting to get to me...

Keep making lemonade, tres. Sounds like cleaning your place up is one way to do it.
.... Hmmm... maybe you should start a cleaning business?...
(sorry! couldn't resist!)
((((Tres))))) Hang in there, girl!

It's hard to stay motivated when you don't have to get up and be at work at a certain time and have deadlines. What sort of work were you doing for your last employer?

Being at home is really strang, isn't it. My situation is different than yours, but I'm at home to and it is STRANG. I've been studying for a master's degree and working part-time. I've finished all my classes, but I haven't finished my thesis. So I decided not to work this summer and try to finish my thesis. It's really hard to get motivated at times. Hope you find a job soon.

I totally understand. When I was unemployed I went on a binge around the house. I thought "Man, I need to be unemployed more often." LOL Even Neil has said to me that he wishes I'd quit months before...I'm so much more fun to be around.
But seriously...take advantage of this time. God has given it to you for a reason. Do whatever is undone. When the time rolls around for you to have the perfect job, it'll happen.
Love to you,
Andi

I worked at a community college for the last 10 1/2 years. Until 2003, I got great reviews by my employer and loved my job. In August 2003 my beloved boss dropped dead of a heart attack during a meeting at work. He was just 60. I didn't have any leadership for 18 months; I had people who thought they were my boss but weren't. I basically was managing myself but certain people didn't like that. So I was given another position but still in the same office. In January of this year I got a new boss who became my public enemy #1. Everything I did was raked over the coals. I was treated like a child. Then another faculty member said I was a target of two women in particular. I have learned that one would sit in her office directly across from me and e-mail things like: eating at her desk; she's wearing pants today; she wasn't in her office when I needed her (the nerve of me having to go to the bathroom), she was 2 minutes late to her desk, she didn't wear her make up, things like that. I was dealing with the corporate spy!

Tres, I worked for the State of Washington for 32 years. What you've just described was something I learned over and over again. I be in a situation where the boss was great and the work was satisfying, then all of a sudden there'd be a new manage, director or just a new employee whose an a$$hole, and the dream job would become a nightmare. No matter how good a job is, it can change in an instant. I still hope you find a new job soon and that it works out well.

he,hee what were you thinking about when you typed bottoM instead of buttoN? Freudian slip eh? LMAO!
Tres I would give anything to be able to stay home all the time! Yeah I know it gets boring from time to time but I have so much at home I would love to have the time to do, like read hundreds of books I have collecting dust, scrap booking, which would force me to sort through boxes of pictures and get them in albums, sewing, painting......I could go on and on. I just wish I had the time to play around with some of my hobbies. Yikes! Be careful what you wish for, lol.
That sucks about your co-workers it doesn't sound like a very good work environment and like Andi said you will with your skills end up landing a much better job, just hang in there.
