I am new here, former JW left years ago.
by out of the box ini want to discuss my experiences with the witnesses.
how it began: i was recruited during the time i was escaping from a violent husband to a shelter.
a witness came to my door as i was preparing to move during the day without him knowing (while he was at work).

Kristi died about 30 mins. ago
by Frannie Banannie infor those of yall that didn't know, kristi was a 37-yr-old ms patient that i took care of for the last year of her life.
she had a wonderful ribald sense of humor and talked like a sailor at times.
but it was all to cover up the ultra-sweet and tender heart she had.

Frannie, my sympathy and condolences for you. I'm sure Kristi knew how much you cared and it made her passing easier.

Cat in Emergency Care - could use some support
by carefully faded ini'm really nervous and scared right now.
i just brought my boy kitty to the emergency care clinic with a blocked urinary tract.. i noticed something was wrong last night when i came home and his sister greeted me at the front door (he is always the first one to greet me).
i went into my bathroom and saw that one of them had pooped on the floor - something neither of them had ever done before.

Faded, I am so sorry and worried about your cat. I have a cat and went through the UTI with him. It is frightening but vets can do so much with this problem today. My thoughts are with you and your kitty.

What does your name MEAN?
by RichieRich inwe all are identified by our names here on jwd.
some use their real names, and others pick a moniker that is their nickname or perhaps a few words from a song they like.. why did you pick your name?.
for instance,.

Thank you Frankie and Z. Thank you for all that information Z. Now I remember....JW's said I was "rebellious." However, I attended Catholic School before the borg got me, and I had forgotten that the nuns said I had a beautiful name because my patron saint was Mary (mother of God). It's coming back to me now.Thanks. This is a great thread and I enjoyed reading everyone's post. It demonstrates how all on this forum have very imaginative minds, now that we're out of JW's.

Kazar means gypsy or nomad. It comes from a book called the "Dictionary of the Khazars." You will note that I have left out the "h". Somehow when I first logged onto the forum I couldn't get it right, but the meaning is the same. The Khazars were a tribe of nomadic peoples who were called upon to participate in the great polemic (debate) with Muslims, Jews and Christions as to which was the true religion of the three groups. My real name is Mary but I don't know what it means.

Question-Did you know your family?
by Sparkplug insoledad made a comment on cruzanhearts thread that got me thinking.... what are your experiences on getting to know family members that were not witnesses.
i never knew all of my relatives and really as it was put, lost a sense of heritage.
i feel this part of the family starts with me, and i still wonder what it is like to have cousins, aunts, uncles ets?

I kept in contact with my parents and siblings even though none of them were JW's.

Clearing Junk from the WT Years
by core injust binned my last papers from the wt years - been in a corner of my study for some years now but time to take another step forward and destry all the evidence of wasted years - lots of old stuff, programmes from assemblies back to the late 50's why did we keep such useless **** anyway ???
) , elders meeting notes etc and a copy of the constitution the society forced on uk congs in the late 90s - just reading it shows how in control the centre really is - also binned old wt cds - one set from 1997 never opened - that was the time we "saw the light" and never looked at a wt book/cd again - have you all got rid of the "junk" or did you hold onto it for years / still got it ?

I got rid of all my publications last month. I had Watchtower, Awake and books going back 15 years. I still don't know why I held onto them so long. I think I had the idea that JW's might be right and that somehow if Armageddon came and I had the publications I might be saved. Goes to show you how twisted thinking can get when you place your faith and trust in magazines (WBTS) instead of God. Once I got on this forum I felt I no longer needed them.

Alas, I believed what they said, too. I don't know how I managed it, but I believed that they weren't prophets but they could prophesy.

First time on here- DF'd almost 3 years ago
by feelinglost ini have toyed around with the idea of finding fellow df'd ones for about a year now.
i recently got married, and of course it has made me look at how it feels like i gave up one life for another.
the only member of my family who is a jw is my mother- and it kills me that we pretty much no longer have a relationship.

A hearty welcome. I also had a non-JW husband and I know how futile it is to try and explain emotions after being DF'd to someone who's never been a JW, regardless of how much you love each other. That is why you will prosper being here.
