I knew a witness who read her horoscope but always felt superior because she wasn't superstitious due to WT teachings.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!! Add your greeting!
by LovesDubs inour little party here is coming to a close and i am very sad about that.
i remember on my high school graduation day in june of 1972, we were all standing in the cafeteria getting our caps and gowns on and i looked around the room at all these people i had literally grown up with for 18 years and thought "this is the last time we are all going to be all together" and it made me cry.
i have come to depend on and love you guys so much.

Milk and Meat are poisoning people and destroying our health!
by Witness 007 ini have read a dozen different health books that come to this same conclusion.
what is milk?
mammal infants require milk from their own species to grow quickly and start solid food.

Restrangled and Eyeslice
I agree with the two of you. So.....that makes three of us out of all the others here. I guess that makes us outcasts. I eat meat only occasionaly for the reasons eyeslice specified as well as clearcutting the forests for raising cattle. Not because it will ruin my health but for the animals' sake. By privately boycotting those items I figure it is one less animal slaughtered in an inhumane way. It's true, animal consumption is how things are in this country. I don't know if it is the same in other countries or not so I can't comment on their habits. And yes, we do have teeth for grinding and chewing meat; so did the cavemen. I just thought we might have progressed beyond that.. I merely boycott the above mentined items as much as possible. Some things you just can't get away from. Glue on our stamps, etc., and I do like coffee with milk.
I distinctly recall a talk given at the Kingdom Hall wherein a brother spoke how generous and good Jehovah was to give us meat to eat after the flood and how good the hot dogs and hamburgers tasted at the barbeques held by the brothers and sisters. . I wanted to tell him that yes, he did give us meat to eat but he didn't tell us it was mandatory.

How many of you would still be "Blinded" by the JW's had it not been forJWD
by superman injust conducting a little survey for all of you active members and lurkers of jwd.
just simply proving the importance and support of this website.
for me personally, while i was still in jw land i had always ahd doubts but still generally believed it.

Count me in the category of blinded ones. Had it not been for JWD I would have continued believing that I was the only person in the world (other than Satan) who disagreed with WTS policies.

Thank you for your post Dave. You expressed what I have not been able to say in all the time I've been here. I do love this place but I have rarely posted for the reasons you said. I have already joined Yuko so I will see you there. In the meantime I will be here for the duration.

Longtime JWD posters/professional lurkers with low post counts

I'm one of the low posters. Hardly ever started a topic but log in every day and read. I'm basically very shy. I always found invaluable information here and most of all the humor of the posters, however, I only posted a few topics because of the various reasons already mentioned in these posts. It's really great to see all the posters checking in that I haven't seen in ages. I will miss all of you.

So, why do you really hate the Roman Catholic Church?
by StAnn inthis is actually a serious question.. when i was a jw, i was taught all kinds of things about how horrible the rcc is.
i believed it.
many years after leaving the wts, i began looking into the rcc for myself and discovered that everything i had been told about the rcc by the wts was a lie.

I do not like Catholicism. I used to hate it for good reason. I was raised a Catholic until I was seventeen--at which time I met JW's and converted. It's true, I merely traded one hierarchy for another. But, I digress; I hated the dogma of:
Papal infallibilty
All the different kinds of sins; some punishable by eternal torment in hellfire; others punishable by Purgatory or Limbo (I don't mean the dance).
Having to run to confession to rid oneself of sin in order to escapte the hellfire.
The Holy Days.
The practice of Novenas ( Lighting candles - which one had to buy) to pray for the release of souls in Purgatory. One never knew if the loved one they were praying for was in Purgatory or Hell. I could go on and on.
