I don't believe that witnesses know what the definition of a Christian really is....

Jesus - WHERE is he?!! Survey
by hamsterbait inblondie has repeatedly asked in her item on the wt study "where is jesus?".
since the wtbts claims to be christian, you could reasonably expect such an organization to talk about jesus could you not?.
for all jws, and others - start counting how often jesus is mentioned at the meetings.

Wish me luck and pray that all goes well for me.
by lovelylil inhey everyone,.
my hubby and i decided it is time to sell our little starter home and buy something a bit bigger.
one reason we are doing this now is that my sister who is developementally delayed and lives in ny needs a new place to stay.

First of all Welcome to the board. You have come to the right place. A lot of people care about the plight of kids raised as JWs purely because we experienced it first hand and know what its like.
Sounds like you have it particularly bad though. I must say I am extremely concerned about your emotional state at the moment. Suicidal thoughts are not to be taken lightly. Your in between a rock and a hard place it would seem also - what with being home schooled and pretty isolated from society in general, going by what you described. Do you have help lines in your area? Do you have any family members that are not JWs? Are they in a position to help?
Are you baptised? If not your pretty free from the harrassment from the elders.
I know what its like being so frustrated seeing your mother complying to strict rules and regulations and not appearing to have unconditional love for her own kids. But if this helps at all, keep in mind that your mother is scared of the world. Even more so if she has only ever been a JW. The big bad world is something to keep away from.
Try keep posting here. The relationships you have potential to form will make you stronger. I can absolutely assure you of that. It will help you get through this.
P.S. are you using a mac or mozilla or something? If so your formatting won't pick up. To have your paragraph spaces showing when you write your post make sure to tick the little Automatic CR/LF box directly under the posting box.

What is all this about Smurfs?
by Stealth453 in.
i have been out a long time, and i have recently noticed a lot of you making mention of smurfs.. obviously, i have missed something.
has the watchliar sociopath society "demonized" smurfs somewhere along the line.. reminds me of the old fear of paintings of clowns, with big eyes, that made the rounds back in the late 60's, early 70's.

They were definately taboo here in Australia where I grew up. However this was enforced from a congregational level, not a WTBTS level.

Yes I am glad Stealthy is here. I don't mind his avatar... I think it reflects his personality (from what I've picked up on) he's an adult who doesn't mind being a little silly.
But on a side note... whats with your avatar at the moment... eeep!

Did you think that you knew more ?
by A Paduan in.
as a jw, were you convinced that you knew more theologically than "those in christendom", yet hadn't really even read the bible ?
more than say, a monk who over a thousand years ago hand wrote one, and read it everyday ?

I was told that we knew more and therefore I believed it. Just like everything else. Hook Line and Sinker...
