I can't remember anything to outstanding from the last meeting I went to. I would have been feeling like I had for sometime. Depressed to be there and bored silly.
I was invited by some a family to go to the memorial with them last year. They invited me around for dinner before hand and wanted me to come in their car group so I wouldn't feel uncomfortable walking in by myself. (Which shows what really genuinally nice people they are. I think free from the borg they would be those special people you would always want in your life.) Back to the subject at hand... I went to dinner, dressed up etc. Came time to leave for the memorial and I couldn't do it. I just couldn't bring myself to go there and sit and feel like a massive hypocrite.
On a side note that same family never held it against me. They still occasionally call to say hello and tell me they miss me and still love me. There are some genuinly good people still trapped in the Borg...

we named our cat 'Guess'.
People would say - What's your cats name and the response would be guess. Naturally they would start reeling off stuff like "socks?" -
"no guess!"
"puss"
"no guess!"
ha, ha... we thought we were hilarious.... sigh.

Do JWs ever use their donations/WT profits to help the less-fortunate?
by sonnyboy ini was a jw for a number of years as a kid, but i don't remember them doing anything to help the community.
many churches in my area have soup kitchens, clothing/toy drives, and other services to help people in need.
do jehovah's witnesses ever use proceeds in this way, or are they all used to make more watchtowers, books, and kingdom halls?

It is all used to further the publishing work. None of it goes to those in need.
Have you had a look at what DannyHazard has to say on some of his posts here or his website. I think he puts it the best.

If Your Mate Used Drugs, What Would You Do?
by Chloe in.
along the lines of run dont walk's post, i'd like to get your thoughts about your spouse being addicted to drugs, specifically meth.. thanks.

Hi Chloe
I feel I can respond to you from my own personal experience and from personal observations of a cquaintances .
I used to regurarly take all manner of substances including meth until I met my boyfriend and found that there was more to life than partying. I used to take a lot of meth because I like the confidence it gave me at the time and I felt I was very entertaining. The biggest issue I had was my short term memory loss and the impatient little cow I would become for the rest of the week.
Taking meth will alter your personality. It will make you less tolerant. Your social interactions with people especially when coming down are appalling, rude and unreasonable.
If you know that your partner has a history of taking amphetemines of similar substances you will undoubtedly notice a change in their personality. A common expression when you have just taken things is to be 'loved up'. Meaning your everyones best friend. Everything is just great. And then you have the other extreme I just described when coming down.
Happily I have been clean off any substances for 9 months now and have no desire to return that type of lifestyle.
Good luck with your partner.
Hugs - Miss Peaches

Hi Mecurious
You are a good friend to Jerry standing by him as he is going through a traumatic period. It is a shame his own family cannot offer him that same unconditional love.
Urge your friend and do what you can to help get custody rights through the court system.
Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT above the law.
Look after your friend - and I hope that things work out for the best.

Sunday Program - My input
by Flindersgirl inhey all!
i have about 9 million emails and phone messages today..so that's interesting.
aside from having the intial reaction of how horrible i look on telly (which i always have) and my partner swatting me for saying it i was amused to see they only used one quote from what was a long interview.

Well done Flinders Girl!
I admire your courage in speaking out. Not only are you exposing the lack of love displayed you also contributing in making other witnesses aware of the issue. (I am sure it was watched by many witnesses secretly.) Perhaps your actions may help in another innocent child staying just that way - innocent!

Despite you having an 'apostate' sticker on your letterbox which should be enough to get the message across it sounds like your body of elders just wants to get you in a room so they can treat you like little children and tell you how naughty you are. Its the way they get their kicks...

Geez guys... I am just overwhelmed by your supportive unbiased comments.
LittleToe - I think the studies will really help him round out his personality and gifts. He is really interested in youth ministry.
Honesty - I have felt that same unconditional love from the church my man attends. Unlike the borg their leaders really are in an educated qualified position to help people.
Doofdaddy - i hope your sister loves her studies and is successful. Please pass along my best wishes
Gill - That's great that you had such a positive experience with the vicar. It just disproves all the nonsense fed to us growing up as JW's...
Thanx Guys!
