Mum has this notion that I will one day return. It's all I can do not to burst her bubble. I wish I could help free her from that wicked organisation...

Embarrassing moments at work
by damselfly ini think we need a fun fluffy thread today, so this is my attempt at starting one.
at work we have a big bathtub with air jets.
clients come in for a hydrobath, (hopefully remember their swimsuit 'cause i've seen so many naked people by now it's getting boring), leave and then, oh joy!, i get to clean the tub.

On my first day of work at a large flour milling plant. I was given the tour shown my desk the usual routine. My supervisor gave me my work assignments. She told me if I have any questions I should call her on extension 199. She then warned me that I should not dial 911 at all because that sets off the fire alarms. (I should point out that 000 is the emergency number here in Australia)
So I go about my work merrily and come to a point where I need assistance. I had the caution clear in my mind 'Don't call 911, Don't call 911' and what did I do...? Called 911.
The whole plant came to a grinding hault. Hundreds of employees gathered at the evacuation point. Several fire engines turned up... I felt terrible. I was standing with my supervisor wondering if anyone could trace it back to me. So I casually asked if this sort of thing happened often. She said 'yes, and the worst thing is the technology doesn't trace who initiated the call'.
PHEW!!! But I was sooooo embarrassed!

Kid-A, the same thing happened where I grew up.
There were a lot of chinese students in the area and they had very poor english. They accepted bible studies purely as a means of learning english.
We had this one elders wife who was quite nuts and they seemed to flock to her for some reason. She used to learn Chinese words for bible and stuff and go around sprouting them. The saying I remember her repeating over and over was "The Chinese! They love Jehovah! They love him you know!" All the while her head making these odd little twitches... It still cracks me up.

Maybe you could make a donation to a fund that provides shelter/food etc for the homeless? Personally I donate bedding and clothes to charities around here and support fund raising drives. I also sponser a little girl in Central America. -

Just for Es....
by wanderlustguy ines needs a thread...i've noticed she's been in the dumps and seems to think no one really notices.
well, time for that crap to stop.. you need to know you make a difference, just by putting in your two cents on any given subject here you make me crack a little grin, and i know i''m not the only one.
to say no one really notices is to berate the contribution you make as well as so many others.

Oh dear you probably tried it all wrong.
Marmite is a lot like vegemite.
For your first introduction to the product you should try the following...
1 - toast some bread
2 - butter toast liberally
3 - spread on a bit of marmite/vegemite so it leaves a light brown thin layer of the product on the toast (do not spread thickly)
4 - enjoy! -

All the best RR. Your a determined strong willed young man. Remain tactful don't give them fuel for their fire. But above all be true to yourself.
