I agree, I believe evolution is a tool used in the creation process. There is some evidence as to the theory of evolution. They?re all kinds of questions... why do human embryos have tails that shrink back to a tailbone, why do humans have some organs that we no longer use much such as an appendix, why do some snake and whales have hips though they do not have legs? Just things that make you say..hmmmm?.

Evolution & Creation... can they co-exist as theories?
by diamondblue1974 ini am not a scientist so i do bow to others superior knowledge on this site regarding these subjects (and welcome their input) but what is to stop these two theories both being proven so that they both apply to our origins.. what is to stop a creator creating evolution as a process just as a creator would create the laws of physics etc?
it would be akin to starting the ball rolling in creation terms and letting it carry on until the highest lifeform is present.
could scientific theory support this view perhaps?.

1 John 4:1
by mjl inwent to the meeting this morning and stayed for the talk.
the speaker used a text that i thought was very ironic, 1 john 4:1 which reads " beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they origanate with god, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
" i found this ironic becuase we were trained not to test anything in the publications and never question what we hear from the platform.

JW Ben, like you I too have been a JW for my whole life, 30+ years. You and I know the only research you are encouraged to do is using Insight on the Scriptures, the Reasoning book, and the Watchtower. Tell me if I?m wrong. You know I?m not. How many times have we been warned about "critical thinking?"

But back to the speaker, he admonished us to test things we hear with what have learned, from the Bible? No, test things we against what have read from the "Bible based teaching aids" that have been given us. Just very interesting......

Man, that post gave me bad flash-back about growing up seeing your friends from school while in meeting clothes. That was the WORST. It gets real bad when out in service on Saturdays and see a group of your friends outside playing. My mom figured seems I knew them I should be the one to preach to them. All I remember is going home crying and dreading seeing them in school on monday. Such a great childhood.

I think we all see the "programed" guilt that is in AFIN. I had it and I'm sure many of us have had it. I had a programed guilt has well as a programed fear of "apostates", I hate that word. I remember growing up and going to District Conventions and seeing some "apostates" outside picketing during lunch. I know I had a fear from being taught that they were crazy eyed Satan worshipers and may kidnap me if I got to close. I believe it is this fear that has taken AFIN and guilt from even being on this board. Guilt and fear are the two biggest tools the WBTS uses.

Follow the money......

I checked our Property Tax Appraisal website and got similar results. But here is what I meant about WTBS retaining ownership. What would happen if the society sent out letters that had "new light?" What if the "new light" was to get back to the bible as far as meeting places and meet in tents on Sunday much like the Israelites and meet in homes for both mid-week meetings like the first century Christians. So therefore immediately sell all the Kingdom Halls and promptly "donate" the proceeds to the society. We are trained never to question the organization so it would get done, without question. How much money do think that would be? That is what I meant by the WTBS retaining ownership.

Has anyone ever tried to follow the money the WTBS collect? It's almost as bad as watching a shell game in New York City. Here is one of my biggest problems... The Building Fund. The program is funded by contributions and is dispursed via building loans for Quick Builds. Here is where my problems begins, they charge interest on these loans going against their own counsel not to charge interest to brothers except for buiness loans where there is profit for both sides involved, so in short they collect contributions, payments, interest, and retain ownership of the Kingdom Hall after the "loan' is paid off, pretty good gig. Anyone else have a problem with this or am I wrong with this?

There has been a few new to board so what's one more? I've been reading the board for a few weeks and I'm impressed at the amount of research that goes into many of postings. There are two topics that really get me going, one is "607 BCE". I can't find one historical reference that backs up the 607 date I've been fed and told 'just to believe it' for so long. The other topic is child abuse. As a new father it really bothers me that someone can abuse my daughter and there is nothing I can do for fear of being DF'ed for slander due to not having two witnesses. But in short I just want to say "hey" to all of you.
