  Welcome Cheesehead, what a story. A great example of deeply the indoctrination runs. If you start to question the FDS or start to deviate, you must be under the control of Satan. This is a fear tactic that is used to keep the "sheep" inline.

  has anyone ever asked someone about way the memorial is still celebrated?

  the belief is it is to be done yearly until he arrives, but he was supposed to arrive in 1914. so if that?s the case, he?s already here.

  why is it still being celebrated?

  Good way to dodge.......the best reason I've found is, it is done so the remnant can reestablish the "new covenant." But, there is no scriptural basis only the interpretation from the GB. Whom we can NERVER question.

  if a jw states that 607 bce is incorrect, how long will it take before the elders announce from the platform to the congregation that the person is "no longer one of jehovah's witnesses"?

So if that?s the case, he?s already here. Why is it still being celebrated? I was just wondering what the JW response would be. I?ve done research on the library CD but can?t find anything to explain.

  Everyone: Please Help Terry Schiavo!

  i just posted this on another thread, but wanted to make sure everyone sees it.

  btw, i had to make the decision along with my siblings to disconnect my mother from life support.

  there is a point where it is better to let your loved one slip away, i think.

  One thing I find to be the most ironic the same "right to life" that is fighting for Terry Schiavo is the group that is doing it's best to block the only research that can help her if her condition can be reversed, stem cell research.

  If the WT were to "reform" would you stay or go back?

  this thought has sprung from recent threads and speculation over the new book.

  i know many who post here are still active jw's or ones who were df'd, but may have not totally left the belief system.

  many have trouble with the methods and policies of the wt concerning dfing, restrictions, blood, local elders etc.

  Is the Society's message to JW's getting stronger?

  during a dinner conversation with a loyal jw, he mentioned that the society seems to be making stronger statements to jw's.

  he mentioned the "keep on the watch" brochure, and how it seemed to be for jw's as well as the public.

  he acknowledged the "personal questions" the society were asking us, in the brochure - how pointed and direct they are, even asking you to rank your physical and spiritual activities on a scale of 1 to 10. .

  The use of 1914 is almost brilliant. Jesus? invisible presence, prove he?s not here. Their proof is fudging some numbers, how do we prove it didn?t happen, he?s invisible?

  Thier message is getting stronger. I know this kind of talk keep's the hard core one's happy. My mom, for example, feeds on it. She figures the "end" must be near based on the strength of the message. She must have forgotten about 1975. But I think WTBTS has learned it's lesson and stopped mentioning any specific dates.

  People should ba allowed to die with dignity. The part that very upsets me is that both, Democrats and Republicans are using her as a politcal pawn to further thier agendas.
