I heard about those. Some famous witnesses (George Benson) made some studio recordings of them singing "kingdom songs." Remember only the WTBTS is allowed to make money......

It was surreal. Your impressions of the "Monthly Awake!" service meeting?
by ezekiel3 inat our service meeting the conductor of "more emphasis on the bible!
" (the march kingdom ministry article discussing the monthly awake!
) routinely asked the questions, comments were read from the paragraph and there was a rediculous emphasis on the scriptures cited, even to the point that wt references were given that had nothing to do with the subject.

Who is really superior?
by mjl inhere?s question, we had a talk a few weeks about the "gifts in men," namely the elders.
they kept on saying how much more superior the congregation is over the elders, the elders in essence work for us and are our servants or slaves.
nice thought and all but if that?s the case why is there so much secrecy?

Was it worth meeting with the judicial committee?
by 24k infor those of you who met with a judicial committee and were subsequently da'd or df'd, was it worth the time and effort?
did the elders let you speak your piece, or were they only interested in hearing that key word or phrase that would allow them to act?
was there genuine interest shown, proboing questions asked, did they really want to know how you felt?

My question is JAVA, how many "brothers and sisters" lost thier lives from not holding a political card in other lands?

need to vent - just got off phone with mom
by jaredg inman i hate the predicament that this religion has put me in.
i love my mom so much and to hear her cry is the worst thing in the world.
it's so frustrating when she thinks that things are so bad b/c i'm dfd.

Jaredg, I know it's been said but hang in there. I'm almost on the same road your on. I'm trying to fade I do not believe thw WTS is god's only voice combined with all this new info and scandels and the continuing "new light" to cover themselves up.But I'm still in due to the fact I'm not ready to loses my family yet, but I know it's coming. But I'll tell you the same thing I tell myself everyday. The WTS's biggest tool is fear and guilt. That's how the keep people confined in there. Your Mom means well and in her heart I'm sure she does hurt. But her pain is in no way caused by you, she is reacting to the fear and guilt that is beat into her every Tues, Thurs, and Sunday. Hold your ground, you are not the problem.

i want to believe...
by candidlynuts inthe following is an excerpt from a larry king interview with the author of the book " the purpose driven life".
have to say there's a story in the bible where jesus is walking down the street, and a guy comes up to him, he's got a daughter who's sick.
and jesus goes -- he goes, "i need you to heal my daughter.

little flock
by peacefulpete injust a comment for the new ones here.
the wt has attatched great doctrinal significance to the words "little flock" in luke 12:32. what however does the context tell us the author was intending?
luke 12 opens with a crowd of curious people gathering and trampling each other and jesus turns to his 12, his friends and disciples, and addresses them with private counsel.

1 John 4:1
by mjl inwent to the meeting this morning and stayed for the talk.
the speaker used a text that i thought was very ironic, 1 john 4:1 which reads " beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they origanate with god, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
" i found this ironic becuase we were trained not to test anything in the publications and never question what we hear from the platform.

That's my point Jez.....critical thinking is a big no-no but we should "test" what we hear to see if it is from God. It's more like, forget the Bible, if a point does not match up to the Watchtower, it's not from God. JWBen, tell me if I'm wrong. I have been told for years, we can't possibly understand the Bible with-out the help of the Bible aids given to us. It would be neat to have a "Bile study" instead of a Watchtower study or a "Cong. Book Study."

Free will?
by mjl inwe are taught that jeh.
created all of us as free moral agents.
meaning we are able to decide to serve him or not to.
-
mjl
I wasn?t thinking free will in the philosophical sense but in the JW sense. I?ve always heard growing up in the "truth" how loving Jeh. Is by creating us with free will, able to decide for our selves, we can choose to serve or not too, but if we?ll don?t we?ll be eternally destroyed. We give us free will if we can?t act on it, is that loving? Or do we even have free will according to the JW logic?

We are taught that Jeh. created all of us as free moral agents. Meaning we are able to decide to serve him or not to. But how does this work in the case Judas? The bible says it was put in his heart to betray Jesus. And Saul/Paul who was chosen to serve even though he was a killer? So do humans have free will or not?
