Unknown to me, my five year old picked my last rose from the garden, and took it with her in the car to Target. As we were walking through the parking lot, she said to the first person she saw, 'hi, here is a flower for you.' It was a woman who looked like she was having a rough day, but she was so suprised, and asked me if she could keep it, to which of course I said certainly. I told her my girl was having a "happy day", and to enjoy the rose. The lady hopefully went on to have a better day. Sometimes, I just can't get upset with my little girlies, they can always manage to put a smile on my face.

Did anyone see or do a random act of kindness today?
by okie46 intoday while unloading my groceries, i witnessed a random act of kindness... someone in a ford explorer was waiting for a car to leave a parking spot so they could pull in there, they had been waiting for several minutes when finally the car in that spot backed out and left.
before the person in the ford explorer could pull into the spot, a lady in a ford taurus pulled on into that parking space.
the person in the ford explorer who had been patiently waiting, just sat there, they didn't honk or flip the person off, then the lady in the ford taurus realized that the other vehicle had been waiting for that spot and backed out to find another spot, letting the guy who had been waiting have his spot.

Sorcery is a Viable Pioneer Recruiting Technique
by KennyC in"good sense stress", was the description of an elder for a circuit overseer's undue emphasis on the words "the children are helping mommy and daddy to...pioneer.... yes".
he said this during a talk of his in the early 1990's.
upon going to a pioneer meeting on that saturday and seeing him first hand using his hands in a circular motion around a pioneers face who was sitting too close in front of him, he stated "did you ever notice that little glow they have?

Ahh, yes, the yes set. I have always laughed inside when the entire arena full of convention delegates looked like a sea of bobbleheads.
Well, I gotta go. I am eating left-overs tonight, so someone pray for me that I do not get uncontrollable heaves and puke all over the place.
KennyC, you'll be fine as long as you're leftovers are'nt from Jehogie's table.
(I can't turn off the highlighter!)

Whatever you call these techniques, they have been used by many public speakers, such as preachers, and politicians.
I wonder how many if any of the brothers have been trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), a form of hypnotisim. http://perso.orange.fr/eldon.braun/awareness/bwash.htm explains how preachers use their voice patterns and words to sway a congregation.

In the early 70's, my parents told me that they believe only 144,000 can go to heaven, and they were ALL scrambling for that ticket.

Candid Interview with Kevin Smith on Prince
by daniel-p inthis is a 4-part series of video of kevin smith (director of dogma, chasing amy, jay and silent bob, etc) talking about his experience filming a documentary for prince.
this is a must-see, even if you don't care for celebrity gossip.
it's absolutely hilarious.

It sounds like Smith has enough material for Dogma II should he decide to make one.

Great qoutes from JuDgE for A day RuThErFoRd
by Scorpion in"the size of the nose, as also the size of the eyes, is not without significance.
the small-nosed man cannot have a judicial mind, whatever his other excellencies may be.
and a man whose nose upturns can no more be expected to administer justice than a pug dog can be expected to act as a shepherd.".

A character in the Tom Robbins book Jitterbug Perfume recommends the air bath thing for life extension, if not immortality. I wonder if he modeled Dr. Morgenstern and his Institute for Immortality after Rutherford and Beth Sarim.

Thoughts...
by RichieRich inall to often, my mind drifts to my mixed feelings for my mother.
the deep love that burned in my heart for the woman who had given me life.. the suicidal remorse i felt for bringing such guilt and reproach on her good name.. the blinding anger i felt for her never questioning her beliefs, but always questioning her son.. and so i'm left with a vacuous emotional chamber for a large element that is missing from my soul.. and when you've lost your most valuable possesion, everything else is gravy on an empty plate - pointless.. and so i hurt too, and i love my mom, but does she love me?
the unanswered question haunts my mind.. we recieve, we give, and sometimes, we just plain screw up.

Richie, I'm sure she does, as best as she knows how. It's just that her definition of love has been skewed by a destructive cult.

Ann Coulter.
by Blueblades inwhat are your thoughts about her?
there has been some controversy about her lately.
anyone read her book the godless?.

I had never heard of her till this recent 9-11 widows remark. I did see her on Jay Leno with George Carlin. His gesture of blowing on his hands and rubbing them together summed her up perfectly. What a cold blooded woman.

Non-JW asks: Why do JWs allow drinking? But forbid Birthdays?
by whyizit inmy jw friend recently condemned birthdays using two scriptures that spoke of evil men killing people on their birthdays.
seems to me that the men were evil, not the birthdays.
today is my birthday.

My brother in law was raised a Dub and is a big time drinker, when I asked my mother If she thought he drank too much and she replied, " If it wasn't for the truth, ### would be an alchoholic". I can't see why he can't be both.
