It appears 2 me that jws harp so much on the new system and the " good news of the kingdom " that maybe the real theme of the bible is lost in the process. From what I've studied the theme of the bible is all about Jesus. From the seed of Genesis 3:15 to gods promise to Abraham to giving the Law as a tutor to Christ ( You can't live or justify your salvation by Law, You must have sins atoned 4 by Jesus' sacrifice) 2 the real Good News of the first century Faith in that sacrifice and living like Jesus did and being a Christian which is learning how 2 love which brings life RIGHT NOW and future prospects of hope. Instead of an all or nothing outlook 4 some future paradise where life can be better. I think being a Jehovah's Witness preaching about a new world government or kingdom and being a true follower of Christ, are totally different ways of life. Or is it just me?

yes Sith its all apart of being deprogramed from every thing hinges on what we do 4 god and not what he has done 4 us. Thats how JWs are kept in fear of not doing enough 2 deaserve Gods favor when in reality we can never do enough thats why Jesus died. The borg keeps people in fear and BUSY with watchtower agenda in this way. When u step back u see things are not the way they say the world around us opens up and its like u said everything is going 2 be ok.

What movies make you think of the Borg?...
by Hecklerboy ini was watching a great sci-fi movie the other day (chronicles of riddick) and there was a phrase in the movie that jumped out at me.
a soldier was being promoted and he said the phrase "obedience without question, loyalty till underverse comes".
i thought "wow, just replace underverse with armageddon and that sound just like the witnesses".

I concur with the Planet of the Apes.....one scene comes 2 mind when Cornelius, who was one of the intellectual Chimpanzees asks one of Orangutangs, who represented the ruling authority, about whether or not in the distant past it was possible for man to have had a flying machine. He produces a paper airplane he got from a human and throws it 2 show that it does fly, and the Orangutang watches it fly across the room, picks it up in amazement, then crushes it in his hand. And the symbolism of the "forbidden zone" where no one was allowed. Such a fear of the truth being expsosed is so symbolic of the Borg.

I geuss everyone can only relate 2 where they have been in life..but I think deep down everyone knows what type of person they are and if they happy with who they are they keep doing the things it took 2 be that way. If not they change the script and seek another way.....but what gets me is, in my experience , if we living by scripts it runs the gamut..all the way from meladrama to comedy to down right horror stories.......if u dont agree just keep living.....Life seems 2 always throw u a twist

Did you know that it is wrong to play Chess?
by Rod P ini remember being at a bookstudy one tuesday night.
i had just recently been reinstated, and i was trying hard to believe the stuff the wbts was teaching, as i went back to be reunited with my family.
(this did not mean i had all the doctrinal beliefs straightened out so that i was an "automatic believer" just because of being reinstated.).

Wow U really hit a nerve on this post....I was obsessed with the game in the early eighties..spent most of my high school days mesmerized with it. Remember Bobby Fischer being my hero ( which now I really wonder why this lunatic even functions in reality....to those of you who know his current antics} And remember reading AwAKE article which labeled it a game of war...remember reading about Karpov and Korchnoi playing 4 $600,000.00 and thinking wow what a way 2 make a living...playing the game u love. And my dad telling me, He being an elder>" son if u think u gonna make a living going around from tournament 2 tournament u better 4get it....so sad others dictate life from a uninformed perspective. But so glad I played the game ..such a wonderful mental exercise which carrys over 2 other areas of living and thinking.

25-year-old elders and 18-year-old ministerial servants
by Gopher inat some point in the 1980's, a good number of younger men were appointed to the position of servants and elders in congregations, at least here in the midwestern usa.
before the 1980's, the required age for elders seemed to be 30, and for ministerial servants 20 (except in rare cases).
perhaps due to a lack of men who were "reaching out", the organization needed to "reach down" and pick out younger men to populate their hierarchy.

I was about 27 and yes it did affect my ego, I wanted 2 change the world had all the answers and made alot of the friends mad right off the top. I eventually saw the havoc I was causing and backed off. So many of the young brothers were mad at me 4 being an elder and I lost all of my peers as friends. Had 2 associate with brothers who were older, and really it was good because I learned alot from them but Its so sad the perception of elders being the ones you got 2 steer clear of because they always watching u. Which I geuss is true. But 2 my own credit I eventually became the brother who most wanted 2 be in on judicial cases because they knew I would lean toward mercy....I mean why not give mercy and help? Wouldnt Jesus do it?

Insider info given to me by a very loyal, long time brother
by seeitallclearlynow inas mentioned in the topic title, a very active, very positive, "faithful" brother talked to me out of the blue at work last week.
it was a highly unusual opportunity - i happened to be in a secluded area, captive to my task, and i saw him passing so said hello.. he's a wonderful person with a well-known, fantastic sense of humor, known all over the circuit and district.
former pioneer, elder, fill-in c.o.

My experience of eleven years as an elder was that regardless of what the make up of the body, the congo always FELT the PO ran the body. I even saw that any brother could run the body as long as he did more in the ministry than the rest. The CO would always gravitate 2 the brother who was pioneering or out more during his visit. If a brother couldnt be PO and he wanted 2 push his weight he would push 4 secretary as this gave him privy 2 all correspondance 2 the society. Really the PO from my experience never ran the congo. U still had strong willed brothers 2 contend with and every thing had 2 be voted on...its hard 2 get ur way when u got 2 vote...and the majority decision is what the minority supposedly had 2 support..even though I saw several times brothers didnt line up 2 this principle....the whole scriptural point of u have one leader, Christ, the rest of u r brothers got lost in the organization system.

Does anyone feel that their abilty 2 make money has been influenced by WT?
by theotherside inwe were told so many times that we were slaves 2 not only god but anyone in a secular position of authority.
so i feel that this only encouraged a subordinate and non confortational attitude with our employers.
almost 2 the point that that even those of us who are self employed never get 2 develope the killer instinct that is needed 2 compete in the business world.
