I was the first (an only) JW in my family. I met them when I was studying in the university. I finished my career (Industrial engineer) ... I did not know many JW with a university education. but the best of the JW was that I met my beautiful wife at a Kingdom Hall. The elders told my oldest son not to go to the university, but we did not obey... my wife got angry with them. I wasted too much time in the cult... around 25 years... after I left things got better. None of the JW in my wife's family shun us.. they respect our views, they are no "hardcore" (is that the word?)

At 18 y.o. they do not flight... when they get a job at an airline, they go to training for several months (even a year), after that they are co-pilots (2nd backup, 1st backup).. it takes long time before they are flying... do not worry!. they are trained very well... in my wife's family there are 16 pilots

Hi friends,
It has been years, I beleive, since my last post. Just to tell you: I left the JW in 2001 with my wife and kids (Over the UN affair). This is our situation these days: My oldest son is an industrial engineer, he is now in Toronto, Canada, in his second year doing his master degree. My second son is an Economist, graduated in the second position is his faculty (very smart guy), he has his own company with his girlfriend (now earning twice the amount he earned when he was working for a bank). My 17 years old daugther, the apple of my eyes, beatiful girl, blue eyed, sings like an angel.. she is getting her private pilot license next week and plannig to be a commercial airline pilot.... life is good.
Thanks friends,
Jaime
(P.S. some in my wife's family are still JW, but they still all talk to us, they not obey the Unfaithful Slave, jaja)

Hi friends,
Although I read the forum dayly, I rarely post.. But I had to tell you this!.. I have 3 children 2 boys and a beatiful girl... this is about my second boy. He received yesterday a public prize in a ceremony one of the best hotels in the city for finishing his career in Economics and getting the second place in economics in the university (one of the best of the country)... that is not all... he is now studying Mechanical Engineering in a different university (the top in Mechanics) and plans to get the first place... he is 23, very smart
My oldest boy studied Industrial Engineering and had very good grades too and is working for 6 years now.. he is doing very well. He was told by an elder not to study but preach! ja ja.. he is now saving money to study an MBA.
I my little girl 13 yo.. brunette, blue eyes, sings all day.. she doesn't even remember the borg! (We left, the whole family over the UN scandal in 2001)
I am very happy.. but english is not my native language, so bear with me

The 2013 Special Talk "Does Death End It All"... Spanish version eliminates the word "Nanotechnology"
by Calebs Airplane inremember this incredibly stupid sentence in the 2013 special talk (posted on this board in recent months)?:.
"despite nanotechnology, humans can neither create life nor restore it.".
well apparently, the english-to-spanish translator (who wrote the spanish version of the 2013 special talk outline) apparently realized that the use of the word "nanotechnology" in this outline was completely irrelevant and childish... so he simply substituted the word "nanotechnology" with the phrase "great scientific advancements".
