This is truly horrible and I think any JWs left have to almost be lobotomized to be sitting there tolerating this shit.
It has gone from intrusive to downright bullying from what it sounds like!
I cannot stress enough that I’m glad I got OUT of the Witness religion years ago.. I’m thankful I never listened to their teachings even back then or I would not be Retired today.

Being as the religion in the last decade or so appears to have become more intrusive than they ever were (asking for $$, personal info on forms, telling people to install Zoom, etc.)..what in the world now? Are they going to hold people by their feet and shake them?
Regarding kicking more people out of bethel, I’m sure that was coming. As for trying to get people to take them into their homes!! (those that have their own homes) is another thing.
It is just as well I ‘faded’ years ago, because I would NEVER have tolerated the religion’s intrusiveness towards me - since I was viewed so negatively as a working woman.. I would definitely have had words with nervy elders who approached me looking for $$ or whatever..It all sounds like a nightmare.👎🏻

Yes, perfect sense. The fat people get fatter and the thin ones get thinner. I also noticed the people who are most out of shape are never in a gym 🤣.

The JW religion is already as intrusive as hell in all things, so financially it goes without saying! Too bad their members’ sensibilities have been so eroded they will agree to anything!
Certainly food would become more important than money if a famine were to occur. With regard to food and supplies, the religion has already become intrusive to their members - wanting lists of what people have in their cabinets at home!..If anybody were to ask ME such outrageous questions, they would be told in plain English that it’s none of their freakin’ business.

You’ve got some good ideas.
No 5: is the most certain. A Recession definitely means less money...Not so sure about No. 9..They can make all the suggestions they want about how much $$ people should give..but people out-of-work aren’t giving them sh#t.
No 8: possibly a reduction in JW personnel (fewer COs); and No 10: more halls possibly will be sold maybe not all.
Nos. 2 & 3 are definitely possible. People may not want to physically go back to the meetings and actual field service as well. Some of these JWs were would-be faders anyway. Others might have been turned off by the intrusiveness of the Zoom meetings.

Possibly. But, I wonder if the world is a little too far along in Time with so much that has happened OR has not happened for this to ‘work’ again. I don’t think anybody..even an actual miracle worker.. is going to bring the JW religion back to its heyday.
Maybe other people are more open minded to the idea the JW religion can reform or have a revival..but I’m done with it.

Of course that was a political move but this quarantine went too far too long, IMO.
Even though I’m no longer interested in religion, many people like religion in the background in their life. They like their churches and the smell of incense. It makes them feel good.
why do the elders always stress to the rank and file members of the congregation how important meeting attendance is, as well as the importance of always paying attention to every word that's being presented from the slave?
but then, during the meeting, they rarely sit and pay attention themselves to the wonderful spiritual banquet being presented?
they always seem so busy, don't they?

As others have said, it’s about Control.
If they don’t SEE you enough in person, the JWs can’t criticize you about your attitude, activity etc. They need a physical presence for this. Being online or remote won’t cut it indefinitely.
Even Zoom wouldn’t be enough (although I think it’s intrusive to have this in your home anyway).

I think you might have asked a similar question before.
But for the sake of all the newbies I’ll say..it’s because I was interested in end-time prophecy back in the ‘70s and somebody led me to believe the JWs cracked some bible code.
They also said they had No clergy class and that everybody was equal. This was how I made the mistake of being sucked into the JW religion. I remedied this error twenty or so years later.

Yeah, I get it and see the shade of difference in the language. I wasn’t in the religion yet in 1969. I was a teenager and still a Catholic.
I came in the JWs in the late ‘70s. I was new in the workforce and would not quit my job to appease the Witnesses. Hell no! I saw people collecting their pensions. They were in the workforce so why would I not be.
I’m curious though:..if somebody is told that they “will never grow old in this system of things”, at what age do they realize something might be wrong with this picture? Age Forty?? I would be uneasy..That still wouldn’t be too late for somebody to do something about their retirement, IMO.
