PHOENIXRISING:
I do believe in the paranormal and had a frightening experience when I was in gradeschool.
But, I can understand other people’s skepticism if they never did.
for the record i'm agnostic, never seen any direct evidence of spirits, afterlife, etc.
i've been visiting my mother during this corona ordeal.
a year ago i had a dream i was much older and talking to somebody about how my mom died this year but it was avoidable.
PHOENIXRISING:

last wednesday my elder brother called me to let me know mom had died.
she was 97 years old and was in a nursing home for the last 7 years.
her mind had left her many years ago to the point she didn't recognize any of us.
STILL TOTALLY ADD:
My condolences on the loss of your mom. It is awful when a parent dies.
I’m glad you had a pleasant conversation with your brother and it is possible that being unwell has made him more ‘friendly’. Although, it’s too bad that it sometimes takes something extreme to make JWs act human.
I am always astounded when I hear stories like yours about the misery in families caused by the JW vacuum of a religion. Again, my condolences.
just before the pandemic affected my area, a couple of jws came to my door.
this was the first time i didn't tell them to hit the road but instead had a pleasant conversation with them.
i never revealed that i am a former jw, nor do i ever want the jws in my area to know that i was ever one.
TAMERIA:
I feel that if you keep engaging this JW in a friendly way (without actually scaring them with very pointed questions)..you are going to be somebody’s return visit for a long time.
If you have patience for this, fine.
today, it will be 90 degrees and humid!
this morning i’ll be playing tennis again.
while most people have been holed up in their houses, i have regularly played the sport outside.
MINIMUS:
I will wear my mask when in stores.
I have a feeling that masks will be needed from time to time in our new ‘normal’.
the latest watchtower is now out and they make this statement -.
7 during the thousand year rule of christ, all of jehovah’s earthly children will have to make changes to please him.
so all of them will have true fellow feeling as they help the resurrected ones to combat sinful tendencies and to live by jehovah’s standards.
MENROV:
Yes, that is the one thing that always bothered me when I was active in the JW religion:..it was a never-ending struggle to please God.
The scripture: “...probably you ‘may’ be concealed on the day of..”, always bothered me. The Jehovah’s Witnesses always wanted everyone to feel undeserving, guilty, worthless, etc. I am sure this is intentional.
No wonder many ex-JWs have issues they have to overcome.
what does everyone think will happen next on the back of the coronavirus pandemic?.
these are my suggestions;.
1) coronavirus will have a disproportionate effect on jw ‘growth’ countries like in south america and africa.
BETH SARIM:
It gave me a great deal of pleasure to shred my No Blood Card when I started my ‘Fade’ from the JW religion.
While I suppose nobody wants blood unless they absolutely needed it..I never felt right about having that thing in my wallet. I went a step further and had a bracelet that said that. I have it in my jewelry box as a memento of my years as a JW..when I did things I wasn’t sure of.
I also agree a religion that has that many blunders is not worth dying for.
archie bunker from all in the family was considered by many as a racist.
there are still many people who think and act like him.
of course, in today’s world, there are many extremes.
RUBADUB:
My father would have voted for Colin Powell if he had run!
SILENTBUDDAH:
If Obama wasn’t the first black president, who was?..Was somebody ‘passing’?
hi friends ,.
is it just me or do others on this forum like to know where posters are from ?
what country state or region you are from ?
SMIDDY3:
The northeast USA here. Tri-state area.
with the upcoming elections, the campaigns and political rhetoric are ramping up.
(ramping up is an understatement lol) .
i remember a few years ago, gb member brother herd mentioned during one of his talks that several witnesses were either reproved or disfellowshipped for voting for a certain presidential candidate who won...twice.
DAVROS:
I have no doubt there may have always been some JWs somewhere who secretly voted..When Obama ran it was said many black JWs made sure they voted for him!
SMIDDY3:
Why bother asking for a vote if they’re only going to ‘fix’ things the way they want? I also believe that they wanted that Sunday afternoon meeting because they thought people were going to go out in service in the morning.
I needed my sleep from getting up early to work every day - so I didn’t make too many Sunday mornings for service ☺️.

PHIZZY:
Yes, it’s true the JW religion is trying to maintain Control by denying education. But, it won’t work anymore because, as you said, everyone needs marketable skills just to get a reasonably paying job. These skills are gotten by higher education of some sort.
The fantasy of people leisurely knocking on doors and not really being in the workforce should be long over.. This is the type of thinking from FF’s time..There were people who tried to do this by expecting handouts.. Maybe some elderly person gave them a few bucks and invited them to dinner.
The mistake, however, was criticizing or shunning people in the congregation who were in the workforce full time.. Now, they have the balls to ask these very same people for money!..👎🏻
I’m happily Retired and out.
