The difference in JWs in the cult

i have been in several congregations over the years.

the hypocrisy was staggering.

so many of these idiots were fake jws.some were strict followers and were as annoying as could be.

Yes, hypocrisy does abound in the religion. And, I agree that it is certainly higher than in the general population.

When I came into the religion as a young working adult I was criticized like crazy by older people in the congregation. I was shunned and hardly invited anywhere. Meanwhile, practically ALL these older people were once in the workforce and were either collecting their pensions or close to it. But, yet poverty and pioneering was preached to me and other young people there...Thankfully, I resisted their criticism and worked until I Retired.

It bothers me that there is No mention of this and certainly nobody seems to feel any accountability over this situation and mentality..It seems to be ignored like the 1975 fiasco.

Just about all of these Hypocritical older people have passed away after living comfortable lives.. However, any of the young Baby Boomer types who listened to bad advice and pursued poverty in the 1970s/1980s instead of getting a decent job or career are in a bad predicament today!

The Anointed Apostate: the Remarkable Sister Pettifog

(on the anniversary of my jw best friend's death, i've reached into my archive to replay this incident in his honor)

the remarkable sister *pettifog*.

this morning i arrived on my bicycle at the local starbucks early and took up a seat at the outdoor table in the fresh air.. that’s when it happened--a group of 3 older ladies at one of the other tables outside rose to leave and one of them walked over to my table and spoke directly to me.

I wasn’t in the religion yet in 1975, so I missed this fiasco.

It was my observation that some JWs were very adept Users.. If they didn’t come into the religion that way, they sure learned how!

After being panned and viewed negatively because I worked full time, I refused to give anything to these people who never really worked much and voluntarily lived on the edge. Armageddon was coming to save them, you know..so they preferred to be knocking on doors, going on coffee breaks and attending special gatherings I was never invited to...Well, I hope they planned for their Retirement! If not. Oh well.

What do you think will be different in the Organization after the pandemic is over?

whether they go back to door-to-door or not, what will be different?

do you think there will be a noticeable drop-off in attendance as we have read on here that many have left or faded?

will there be a mass selling of halls?

I also said the same thing last year when they were selling off halls:..they will need to end up having a few meetings a year in some large assembly hall or arena.

I don’t see how they can maintain the control they wish if they do not meet face to face at some point..So, therefore, they MUST have in-person meetings periodically.

I think it’s absurd and comical to imagine somebody can exercise control huffing and puffing over zoom meetings. This is not going to cut it, as far as I am concerned.

It’s interesting to sit back and watch as observers what is happening in the religion - and SO happy we are not there!

The Craziness of JW's.

my dad and i would work on different "pioneers" vehicles in our kingdumb hell.

and to nuts and bolts they where real "hoopties" anytime ready for the crusher.

both my dad and i would work with our skills to keep their cars running since they don't have a real job to get a real working car.

OVERRATED:

I had heard of some younger pioneer couples from back in the day who at some point got out of the cleaning business and into something more lucrative and less physically demanding. I also heard of other couples who had one or both who ended up getting a job in an office because they needed medical coverage.

I would imagine that these people were able to retire at least!

However, other pioneers from back then who lived on the edge, preferred to be in full time ministry and did NOT prepare for their Retirement are probably in a bad situation today. They should be begging brothers with businesses for jobs (along with the fired bethelites)...If I KNEW of a job I would tell them..But, a courtesy like this would be the extent of my help.

I would imagine that JWs who made unforgivable remarks about people in congregations who worked a secular job full time like I did..have eaten their words since they have seen just what it takes to live in the Real world.

MYNAMEISLAME and OVERRATED:

I would never presume to tell somebody else what they should do.

However, as somebody who was criticized, shunned and not invited to special gatherings because I worked full time, I would never give anything to these JWs. Just think: I wouldn’t be Retired if I listened to these people who said I was not ‘spiritual’ and should be in full time service as a ‘pioneer’. Would these people be supporting me today? Nah, I don’t think so.

I remember it well about JWs who never wanted to work but expected things for free or at a discount back in the day...Well, if they are in a predicament TODAY, let them track down their so-called spiritual friends for charity and handouts!

I know of more than one suicide among JWs. The most recent one I heard of was not because of shunning since the person was in ‘good standing’. Also, this was not exactly a young person either.

While nobody can know exactly what went through this person’s mind - I wonder if it had something to do with the beliefs and the end of the world talk.

I agree with what many feel that the unloving practice of shunning can contribute to this. I experienced shunning to some degree by JWs since I was in the workforce full time but this had no effect on my self esteem as it might on a born-in person..I cannot imagine my formative years filled with the dreadful talk of destruction and Armageddon.

How healthy could this possibly be?

Just invited to a zoom memorial.

walked away from the trooth years ago(over 20) my older sister sends me an invite to the memorial via zoom.

i have no interest in jwism at all.

should i ignore or respond?.

OVERRATED:

I was invited to tap into the memorial on Zoom by distant JW friends. I politely declined with the excuse of not having enough service, etc. with my cellphone plan.

Do You Think “Normal” Is Ever Going To Happen Again?

do you think people will ever get back to normal, pre-covid?

MINIMUS:

I don’t like the public service announcement/pep talks I’m hearing! They’re telling people that even if they’re vaccinated they should still mask and socially distance because of ‘variants spreading’, etc.

I have long felt that with this very massive vaccine campaign..this should at least greatly reduce or end the danger of the virus. But, if it does not and people are STILL expected to do what they have been doing for the past year - then it’s all been crying wolf and they don’t know what the hell they are talking about.

you clearly read what's written in the bible, but the society is always twisting and bending scriptures to their benefit.

Yes that’s true and I have No tolerance for these JWs who never wanted to work!

I’m sure this offends certain people on the forum who were once of this mind but maybe aren’t anymore. But I was never like this having worked a full time job and I got knocked for it. So, they’ll have to understand where I’m coming from.

I wouldn’t be Retired if I didn’t plan for the future!!..I resisted pressure and labeling (unspiritual) by older hypocrites (many who are now deceased)..who either worked in their youth OR married a worldly guy. This sap worked 40 years so they could ring doorbells, act pious and go to special gatherings I wasn’t invited to.

The biggest reason I’m glad I’m no longer active in the religion or around any of the sadsack people: I don’t want anybody coming up to me looking for handout$. Let them track down their ‘spiritual’ friends for money.

That’s not my problem these unkind JWs were conned into believing Armageddon was coming and they didn’t ‘need’ to plan for the future. Just WHO thinks this? Even so-called worldly people who don’t have much going for them know they need to plan for the future and their old age which is coming for them on the highway doing 80 mph!

My first Kingdom Hall zoom meeting

i haven't been to any meetings in the last 9 years.

besides a couple of elder visits here and there, i've been pretty much left alone.

my family has also left me alone, and haven't acted any different towards me.. this week my brother, his daughter and his son all called me to invite me for the next weeks memorial and also my nephew's first sunday talk, which he gave today at noon.

RULES & REGULATIONS:

I’m a ‘Fader’ and never attended a Zoom meeting. I also can’t see why anybody would want their face and every movement on camera...It would be unnatural and self conscious. Not only that, your home becomes an extension of the kingdom hall. That would never be acceptable to me.

At least when you attended meetings at the kingdom hall, when it was over you went home. You had privacy. You didn’t have uninvited and unwelcome eyes seeing everything in your home and scrutinizing your clothing and the expression on your face!..As far as I’m concerned, they can KEEP their Zoom meetings.
