Yes, Merry Christmas to everyone!
I was raised Roman Catholic so I had the whole Christmas and holiday experience that Jehovah’s Witness children would be deprived of..I could understand why it would mean nothing if somebody didn’t experience it as a child.
I love all the colorful lights, baking, aromas, the tradition and getting together with relatives. Before this pandemic hit, it was enjoyable to go shopping and see decorated malls and stores. I know Christmas can be cheesy with stupid songs but I ignore this. I have good childhood memories of it.
I always felt the REAL reason the JW religion disapproves of this and other holidays is that they don’t want a JW to associate with non-JW family or friends! Never mind the ‘pagan’ bullsh#t. Most everything has pagan origins, even the days of the week. No, this is just a cover excuse.
Bottom line:.. I suspect they very much fear the JW will experience friendship and unconditional love from people who are not judging them every minute and will grow to like it (or remember it) and perhaps may not want to remain in the JW religion anymore!
So, enjoy your Christmas dinner! 🎄🎁
