Like you, I couldn’t stand to be at a JW convention nowadays. You couldn’t pay me. Even when I was ‘in’ years ago these conventions or assemblies were an endurance test.

I remember the wasted weekends of getting nothing done and going back to work on Monday exhausted instead of being refreshed.

Lately, the utter nonsense spouted by the JW religion is something I couldn’t sit through. I used to cringe years ago at those testimonials on the stage of young foolish JWs who gave up scholarships to pioneer 🙄. (I was not swayed but kept on working.) Now the religion is reaching a new low trying everything in their arsenal to dissuade anybody from going to college.

Those Witnesses of decades ago who gave up scholarships to pioneer and who never got decent jobs are broke today and in a bad predicament in their senior years. Now, sadly, there is a new group set to make the same mistake!

Is there a new rule regarding disfellowshipped people?

does anyone have any information about a relaxing of the rules regarding family reaching out to disfellowshipped members?.

i've heard of an elder being openly in touch with a long time disfellowshipped family member.

apparently the term 'compassionate view' had been bandied about.. i can't find anything relating to this.. i'd be interested what the new rule is in when came into play.. hotb .

The JW religion doesn’t believe in apologizing for anything they got wrong.

I do believe that many of these disfellowshippings were probably unnecessary.. Egotistical elders just wanted to ‘show somebody’ what happens if they disagree with unfair treatment, intrusiveness and faulty teachings.. The elders were overconfident because the halls were filled with people. Now they can’t retain anybody.🤣

I am a ‘Fader’ but who knows if I could have been announced(?).. Makes no difference to me. What the religion fails to see is that most people long out are GLAD and have moved on with their lives after a few decades.. Except for a tiny fraction who ‘need’ to see their still-in JW families, they ain’t going back to this toxicity.👎

I read some of those testimonials from Witnesses who were coerced to get the Covid shot.. What horrible things they suffered! Some of those that refused ended up disassociating themselves.

I never got the ‘vaccine’. I got a lot of criticism from many people I knew - but still wouldn’t do it. Boy, am I glad I didn’t. However, I am a long time ‘Fader’ and no longer in the JW religion.

Don’t ever call yourself ‘nothing’ either because you weren’t extensively educated or held in high esteem by the Jehovah’s Witness religion. You did fine.

I, myself, was never held in high regard by the Witnesses because I worked full-time. I was raised Roman Catholic so maybe that is why this did not sway me.. I came into the JW religion with healthy self-esteem that everybody should have.. The JWs were bothered by this and because I didn’t take up the ‘suggested’ housecleaning and pioneering which they mostly pushed on women.

Today, I thank God I never did this!

To myself I wondered what all the fanfare was about with JWs striving for titles as their titles had No meaning in the real world!

Is the Governing Body hunting down PIMOs? LEAKED survey for select congregations in Canada

it seems like the organization is hunting down pimos.

maybe the mark o donnell lawsuit is just the beginning.. this leaked survey in canada is asking some very weird questions from select publishers.

all i can say is that this will help wake up some pimi straddling the fence.

Unless someone can do this questionnaire totally anonymously, they are inviting trouble and visits by the Spiritual Thought Police.

A few of the questions stood out to me and I had to laugh: the one where it asked if you shunned a person because you wanted them to ‘feel pain’ or ‘shame’. That’s about right for some of the mean-spirited people in the hall.

The other one was people getting involved with the Witness religion because they wanted ‘material support’.🤣 Where was this ‘support’ coming from??

The religion has no social programs whatsoever.. What I suspect happened over the last two decades or so: because of the empty seats because of people having left, certain Witnesses started studies with people with serious social issues and made promises to them ‘that they’d be taken care of’ or some such crap.

Meanwhile, since there are No social programs - they ended up hitting up other people in the hall for money!!!! If I had been sitting there my answer would have been No since I got shunned for having a full time job.

Imagine being around all this now, in addition to baby boomer pioneers and others who didn’t prepare for retirement?? What a hotbed of trouble.👎

That's a good question and I’d like to think so.

Some years back I read an awful story in reverse. As the story goes: a JW missionary in a very rural backwards area of the world (don’t remember where) supposedly had his missionary friend or partner die… Don’t remember the details if he couldn’t get any money or assistance, etc. But he ended up having to personally cremate his friend out in the field or wherever. 😮 When I read this missionary horror story it impressed upon me the insanity of it all.

Because the religion is so secretive and JWs are reluctant to even talk about their bad experiences in Bethel - stories like this one would hardly be known about. So, who knows about somebody having to come home for the death of a parent?

It does sound like it was made by PIMOs!!.. They are voicing the exact complaints people there are having and that we, as ex-JW spectators, know are obvious.

Yes, JWs who heard promises when they were young have gotten old and sick.. And the mom deciding ‘not to draw attention to herself’ means what?? (I can understand why some people may not want to talk about an ailment so as to not be reminded of it.. But, this gives the impression that it’s just reminding all the other JWs that yet another person is facing their end and the ‘New System’ ain’t here!)

And I like the “we’re Witnesses too but we have a comfortable life”. This is obviously knocking JWs who are better off financially or who maybe worked full-time like I did (shame shame).

Sounds like a crying fest. I am glad to not be around this somber environment with disappointed, sick or broke JWs.. Besides, they would hate my guts for leaving years ago and not listening to the B.S.

So, it’s the enemy from within.

Regarding the remaining people inside the Witness religion:: we can never know how many genuinely believe it OR are faking it for the sake of family there.

When I planned my ‘Fade’ after that 1995 Generation teaching, I did so without the slightest concern about what anybody thought about me.. I had no family there so I just bounced... So what if I was further shunned because I worked and didn’t pioneer?? Let them gossip.. This was no loss to somebody in my situation.

However, other Witnesses sitting there growing old with family in Do Not have this luxury - and they are sitting there faking it and getting sick and tired.

What an understatement to say I’m Thankful I got out of the religion ages ago.

What is the Craziest Thing You Are Aware Of Someone Being Disfellowshipped For?

i knew a lady who was disfellowshipped for 20 years for smoking.

she finally went back to the kh and since they couldn't find her paperwork, (all the former elders were dead) she was allowed back in without reinstatement.

no one even remembered her.

It amazes me how heartbreaking and ridiculous some of these disfellowshipping stories are.

Somebody half-dead who doesn’t even know what’s going on gets disfellowshipped.🙄 Wow, I guess that showed them!.. I’m sure the congregation was then ‘clean’ from their harmful influence, right?🙄

I'm sure all these disfellowshippings and pushing people out the door over faulty teachings was in the days when the congregations were filled with people. Egotistical elders imagined people would be begging to come back crawling on their bellies. Those days are gone.

Now the religion can Dream On because they cannot get people to stay and are trying to entice people long gone to come back into their toxic world.. I am a long-time ‘Fader’ and you couldn’t pay me to go back to the JWs.

When I was ‘in’ I never really thought too much about it.

I remembered the phrase “you do not owe the truth to somebody who doesn’t deserve it”. This was presented in the scenario of persecution when authorities ‘wanted to know where the brothers were hiding’. So, at the time I didn’t think it was so bad.

Now that I’m Out? Wow. It’s shocking.. Doesn’t matter now, but I think I was a victim of bait & switch all those years ago.. I guess I “didn’t deserve the truth”.. Right? Also, what about all the urban legends/fallacies (false stories) famous in the congregations.. Why do you hear the same cliche remarks from coast to coast - whether you are in California or the East Coast?

I figured it must’ve been company men’s’ jobs to sprinkle these little seeds on their visits everywhere.. Can’t imagine where else these ideas came from.. Why then do you have JWs everywhere believing the same fallacies or parroting the same phrases??

The fallacy that bothers me the most (which still exists) are Witnesses who imagine ‘somebody’ is going to ‘give them something’ if they make personal sacrifices to pioneer. 🙄 This belief refuses to die. Hmm. Wonder where they got this idea from??😉
